Whistling noise from inside tank

My 18 Heritage doesn't do that. That would drive me crazy.

I think the solution was to change the fuel cap https://www.harley-davidson.com/us/e...Cap/p/61100134

Tell me about it. I can’t believe they deliver them with a fuel pump that makes such a high frequency sound that burns through the sound even if the factory exhaust pipes (which are quiet but still).

thanks I might give it a try, but wonder how that is helping as the sound is still there but maybe it keeps it in the tank if the factory cap ia not sealed probably. Easy fix though if it works. But there must also be fuel pumps not making such a grave sound right?

Mine still does it after 5000km, really annoying and I can hear it even when using ear plugs.

Did you try to to change the fuel cap as suggested or anything else? Must be a solution to this some how.

Nope haven't tried the other cap (yet). Dealer keeps insisting it's normal and from what I hear, quite a few other people have the same issue. Very much considering to swap my LRS for a good deal I have on a (new) 21 RKS but still a bit in doubt. Tested that one, no noise.

what a disappointment as I just got mine and when I tested a FXBB there was no whining sound so I was surprised when I got the FXST. I was also told its normal but can’t be good for your ears. Just surprised when other have this problem that there is not intel on this from people actually solving it. It will surprise me if a new cap does the trick as it would be very easy solution. But I have to do something as I can’t stand the sound at lower speeds.

Yes. Had that issue on a '21 FXST. Definitely fuel pump and got worse as tank emptied. Never got dealer to resolve it. Best logic/theory I heard is the fuel pressure bv-pass/return valve causing it.

Traded it in for a '22FXST and that had a fuel pump rattle @ 22-2500rpm. That was resolved with a replacement fuel pump assembly.

call Milwaukee, register a complaint. The dealer will wake up. I had a problem with my RG and that's what it took to fix it.
