Default Chrome is not a cheap addiction.........

I'm going to have the suspension upgraded on my 2019 Deluxe this winter (I'm leaning toward Fox IFP-R QS3 monotube and cartridges), and I was thinking if the front end is disassembled to install the cartridges, why not add chrome lowers? My plan is to add either Fat 50 spokes or Performance Machine Talon wheels next year. I'm thinking the wheels would prefer chrome lowers, so I might as well get them done while everything is apart. Good idea, or are chrome lowers a big pain in the butt to keep clean? Speaking of keeping it clean, I'm also thinking the Talon wheels would be easier to clean than the Fat 50's. True?

I didn’t think chrome was all that difficult to keep clean until I went with a mostly black bike. I used to wash, wax and detail my bike at least once a month. Now my bike is lucky if it gets washed twice a year.

I don't detail mine as often as I used to, either, but I do try to wipe the bugs off with a wet rag every few days. Your post reminded me that black (like chrome) really shows the dirt, and perhaps the more chrome you have, the more people look, making everything more noticeable. The price to be paid for shiny stuff, I suppose. I'm sure I'll go ahead with the chrome lowers and wheels.....but I draw the line at swingarms.....no chrome swingarms.....

Okay, I confess I do clean off the bugs with a damp microfiber towel after a ride. I hate looking through a dirty windshield.

Great looking bike. I'm definitely doing the lowers when they change the suspension. They look great. I like the cables, housings, etc on the bars, too. Hadn't thought of doing that, but I like it. As for the trim rings on the lights, I'd do that right now if I could find a matching headlight trim ring. Why does HD offer the passing lamp trim and not the headlight?

Its funny, I bought a show bike that needed some light cosmetics and paint to be perfect. I did both and upgraded a bunch. The rims on it are just not my taste. I want to get a matched set of black rim/hub with stainless or chrome spokes. Similar to your front wheel... Im seeing prices from 250 a rim to 1200 a rim . Im also saying its expensive BUT we all know were gonna do it.. Im giggling like a school girl looking at the 7500 bill I just spent... The joys of saving my NYC commuting money with the covid mess...
