Default RSD Fox 13.5' rear Shocks

Hi Folks,

First apologize if my English not that good as this not my mother tongue, I had a customized FXDR, even though already had a awesome lean angle, its not enough for my riding style, so I did bung king extension to increase the rear height, however it seems the 12.6' shocks really have a short travel and very harsh when dealing with potholes on the road.

I've been eyeing some shocks like Progressive 946 and uber Ohlins HD506, however their length only up to 13' then the RSD came into the picture with the RSD Fox 13.5'.
Have anyone change their shocks with FOX RSD for their Softail?

Thanks man, just finished the reading of your post... Really informative..

I had the same doubt as you when it comes to Ohlins,.. So Fox it is, just might need to set the sag preload properly due to no external **** to twist ..

This is interesting. I just completed a 3,350 mile tour of Wales and Scotland on my 2020 Slim. The front of my sidestand has been ground down, must be the lowest part on the LHS when retracted. Also my right hand floor board bracket and right side frame bottom are very much worse for wear. I had the bike on max preload. I touched them up with Hammerite paint this morning and decided to sell the bike. Much further over and I'd be starting to lever the wheel off the ground. Not safe!

I'm not sure how much the extra height of the Fox shock will add to ground clearance though. Think it may be safer to get a bike with more lean angle. I didn't think I was pushing it that hard when it ground out each time. Shame. In all other respects it's a great bike. But I have to feel confident riding in the bends, and I don't with it at the moment.

The FXDR designed to have the highest lean angle amongst the Softail family, however since I mod it and change the front control to a floor board, that lean angle reduced and easier to scrape, good thing about floorboard is I can reposition my foot in different stances, and gives flexibility during riding ..

And it came with the 12.6' shocks (not even full 13' like Fatbob), what I did, changed the end of OE shocks mount with bung king extension (add around 1.5' height with load) and voila it returned the missing lean angle that was there before.. now reason why I want to change to FOX, due to the OE 12.6' shocks does not give much travel/rebound and quite jarring when hit some potholes/bumps on the road but still like to maintain the same ride height as the OE shocks + Bung King extension..

Modded form, look at that gap..

Just put Pro Action shocks on my 21 SG. Awesome ride now. Night/day difference and a great company to deal with
