Default New Softail (for me) - Softail Slim

Realized I was not riding my 18" Road King as much anymore, and moving it about the garage was not always fun. Bottom line was it needed to get someone that would use it for what it was made for. I love my old brit bikes and have rebuilt a few and the notion to trade my Road King in for something else really got my wife going and we went about "just checking out other bikes". Looked at Indian but local dealers here in the DFW area are limited and the one by us had no stock and no new bikes (???). I was interested in the Scout but after sitting on one and riding I felt like I was on a mini-bike. I'm 6' and 220lbs, so had my wife take of photo of me on the bike and that was a for sure NO. I looked like a giant on the Scout. So off to the Harley dealer...

My first look at the Slim was years ago, loved the classic and clean look, but the test drive was horrible. Dragged just about everything on it around just normal street corners, and the engine vibrated so much it shook my teeth. Still loved the look. As soon as we got onto the dealer floor, my wife grabbed me as said this was MY bike. It was a new 21' Slim in the denim black and grey. A short test ride and I was sold. Got a great deal on the trade in, and new bike as well.

Thus far only added a tool roll and a Viking swing arm bag but have been loving the ride. Smooth and stable, and the softail suspension seems to be more comfy to me than the touring. Handling wise its a no brainer... so happy camper. Now to get a rear rack on her (detachable or something similar), a seat and back rest for the better half when needed, but for now perfect with the minimal stowage of the swing arm bag and tool roll mounted on the riser (not touch paint). Performance wise will eventually get pipes and her breathing upgraded.

Good Looking ride there Masscot! I was cross shopping the new Fat Bob with the Slim and Street Bob. Really really liked the Slim but ultimately went with the Fat Bob. Both are great bikes for sure!
