I've read a number of threads on this and not sure I have the answer I'm looking for. Since the Deluxe and Heritage share same frame, I am wondering whether I can install the Heritage shock onto the Deluxe to get more rear suspension travel. If I can, would it adversely affect the geometry? Would I then have to raise the front end, as well? Any other considerations? Appreciate any advice/input.
Yo Tedly here's the graph you'll need .
I put a Fat Bob shock in my FXBB and everything is better , the bob shock looks like a parts bin item and the longer shock looks better quality.
I have raised the front but it wasn't for any other reason than to get clearance for my little
Bobber .lol

Thanks 👍. So no geometry issues if I don't want to raise the front. I do light duty touring with my wife and want her to be happy. I know some will tell me to just get a heritage but I prefer the subtle differences of the deluxe
Yes, it fits directly and while it is a much better ride due to the extra travel, it's not enough of a change to hurt the handling. You will need to re-aim your headlight as it will be pointing more downward.
Thanks for the feedback. Looks like getting the pre-load **** version from the Fat Bob would make adjustment easier. Wonder how hard that is to fit? I guess if I replaced the front shocks with a Progressive kit, I could raise it say half an inch. A lot of work I suppose just to keep the Deluxe......
I have a new Progressive 465 shock w/remote preload adjuster that is their 13.1” shock for Fat Bobs and other soft tails that would accomplish what your after and offer preload and rebound adjustability. I bought it for my Breakout but it’s too long (raises the bike too much) and swapped it for the 12.6” one, which is the stock shock length. Anyway, message me or text at 602.616.two five six five of your interested.
The Heritage and Deluxe shocks are easy to adjust. You just remove the seat and it’s a simple turn with a tool. Once it’s set as you like it you don’t need to touch it again aside from when you carry a passenger, which is just another simple adjustment.
Personally I don’t think the external **** is worth the trouble to have in this case.
