Got a 2009 heritage classic and heard that I could exchange my rear shocks with those of the deluxe and achieve a 1" drop in the rear. Is this true?
would the deluxe rear shocks give my heritage classic a lower ride hight?
another question is: I would love to lower the rear by 1 to 2 inches...but my wife does ride often as passenger and would not want the shocks to become overly uncomfortable...now i am aware that the best solution for her would be for me not to change the shocks, so I am trying to find a good compromise...that is where I heard someone mention that the deluze shocks on a heritage classic would lower the rear 1 inch and still give me a pretty nice ride for my wife (passager).
I would prefer my wife to ride her own, but so far no luck, so that route aint open to me
I feel your pain, my girl doesn't want to ride herself either. I'm lucky enough that she doesn't ride that often. Back to the shocks, yes the deluxe shocks are the profile shocks that Harley offers, the ride should be good even 2-up
You can buy a lowering kit. I think all they do is to extend the rod on the shocks. Doesn't appear to be a big deal to install. I've seen them on Ebay and they should be a hell of allot less than a new pair of shocks.
Installed Deluxe shocks last summer and they do lower it 1" inch. Look at sig pic. They do ride a little rougher for two up but not terrible. I prefer the ride when 1up.
Also, you can find used Deluxe shocks, eBay, Craiglst for $100 or less. Got mine for less and only had 300 miles on them. There is a chrome pair right now locally. Maybe the guy would ship them to you.
yes black & chrome you are correct. before i lowered my rear riding 2-up was great. and yes they will fit on a heritage. as for the extender bolts they are HORRIBLE. i couldnt imagine riding 2-up with those bolts installed. The best way to deal with rear shocks would be an air system of some kind. Thats what im after as soon as the $$$ is there. good luck
I bought a set of the lowering bolts but never got around to installing them. After reading a bunch of reviews here I'm going air ride instead, probably next winter. A lot more money, but totally versatile.
