I don't know if I can answer your question; but as someone who has owned a Springfield, Fatboy and now a Heritage here goes. I really liked the Springfield, but lack of dealer support sent me back to Harley and like you, I found it a touch heavy. Fatboys are great bikes, but if you are going to tour on it, you will probably need to add saddlebags and a windshield. A Heritage comes with both bags and a windshield, plus it has the same excellent handling as the Fatboy. Hope this helps a little

Thanks. Very similar situation. I just bought a new Heritage and will make it my own over the next couple of years. Appreciate everyone's comments.

It is very cool if I may say so myself, thanks. It started off as the darkest Freedom Shield (19") windshield and I had it trimmed on each side to match the width of the Harley Compact windshield. The mounting bracket is the Harley quick disconnect that came with their clear windshield that I had powder-coated Gloss Black:

Rode my 18' Fatboy from Nashville, TN to Philadelphia, PA and back again last year. Plus rode all over town.

I'm 5'8" and 220lbs, I actually enjoyed the Fatboy better then the 18' Street Glide Special that I trade in for it. Much easier to control, flat footed when stopped.

It rained my whole ride up. No windshield, no side bags. Swapped to harley seat for a Mustang with a backrest. Strapped my bag to the backrest.

Just got it home yesterday! I live 1/2 mi. down a gravel road that had a lot of melt and mud, so my scoot looks like a BMX bike right now. I'll get it cleaned up then post a few pics. Thanks for reminding me
