Default Windshield Vent in Sport Glide Shield

When I got my Sport Glide, one thing that I knew would need to be replaced was the stock windshield. I bought a Slip Streamer 12" and cut the vent for a Goldwing into it before I installed it. Looking back on it, wish I had ran it a bit without the vent to see what the difference would be. As it was, the windshield with the vent gave me clean air in my facial area up to 70-75 mph. When I would run my hand in front of my face, the air stream was right at the top of my helmet. I wear a half helmet and it was comfortable, didn't get buffeted around. So anyway, I'm 6' tall so I thought a taller shield might give me better protection. I think this windshield would have worked well for someone a few inches shorter. Since Gustafsson was the only one offering anything taller than 12", I went with their 15" without the vent holes. I will run it first before I cut in a Goldwing vent so I can see if there is really a difference.

The thing the vent does that just punching holes in the windshield doesn't do is it directs the air to flow up the inside of the windshield. This not only prevents a low pressure area in the rider pocket, but it also keeps the air from coming in behind the shield in vortexes. If the Gustafsson works out the Slip Streamer will be available if someone wants it.

I tried multiple shields on mine, but all produced helmet buffeting. So I just stayed with the short stock 2" shield. Same result on my Scout. For some reason I'm prone to buffeting when using a shield. I thought about a gold wing vent. Might have to try it. Good luck with the new shield.

Mt vented 15 Gustafsson works good. I did block the vents off ....and instant bobble head.
I'm in the process of having them make a 2" taller clear vented with straighter sides. Not sure if it will work better the 15" but it's worth a gamble.

As I said in my first post, I had them send me a 15" without the vents. I have been running it on the bike for the last two days and I can tell that there is buffeting. There is a definite up draft coming around the tank that I didn't have with the vented Slip Streamer. I should have the vent for the Gustafsson in a day or two. I will run the Slip Streamer for a couple days until I get the vent installed in the Gustafsson so that the comparison will be honest.

Steve you may know but even with the vented Gustafsson you will still have air coming under the fairing and up over your tank for minor buffeting. The lowers resolved this. So the function of it works pretty good although due to my height I could still use something a bit taller. I still plan to have them make me both an new upper and lower to my design ideas. I get it made I will share it to the forum.

Vents work. I installed one on my Wedge fairing, along with a deflector to fine tune the airflow. The deflector tip I got from @Huntwhenever.

I ended up just going to a Memphis Shade Road Warrior faring with a 9" vented screen. It works better for me in limiting the buffeting.

I got around to trying to put the vent in Gustafsson windshield, only the find that it has a pretty sharp bend in the middle that didn't correspond to the curve of the vent. Anyone want to buy a 15" Gustafsson that been barely used? Dark tint.
So I put the 12" Slip Streamer back on the bike. Not sure what the next move will be, but the fairing from the Low Rider ST looks interesting. Figure it would be about $2500 with paint. I haven't ridden one yet, so I'm not sure how well the fairing works. Maybe some of you might give me some insight.

Liking the 17" vented, clear wide custom W/S Gustafsson made for me a lot.
