The manifold was way easier then I expected. You definitely need a long allen wrench with the ball end, I forget what size.
The two on the right side, I had to use the end of a box wrench on the allen wrench to get the leverage to break them free. (A small pipe would work too) The two on the left side were easy but on my Fatboy I had to remove the bracket that holds the ignition coil to the frame, in order to get to the bolts.

The updated oil pump didnt come out until MY2019. So if you got an 18, you got the original pump that is prone to sumping. Im guessing you bought the bike used. If you contact the service writer, they should be able to tell you if it ever had an aftermarket oil pump put in. Other than that, until you open the cam cover, theres no way to know, assuming aftermarket can plate was put in.
Does the bike have a tuner on it? A shop should be able to see if updated tune for a cam.
I will be upgrading to a S&S 465 this winter. That is their torque cam. The 475 is their high HP bolt in. If youre gonna get an S&S cam, you might as well get the whole kit. That way you know the pump is better, the cam plate it better and you can change the looks of the pushrod covers (if you want either black or chrome)
If I had the money I would've done the whole s&s cam upgrade. But unfortunately when you're retired, you get paid once a month and that's it.
I bought the 18' Fatboy used in 2020. I'm getting ready to go out and start working on it. It's already 90°+ outside, can't imagine how hot it'll be in the garage.
I'd cross my fingers but then I wouldn't be able to hold my wrenches.
Yup, my Fatboy had the old oil pump. One of the local dealers had the new one, so I dove down and picked it up.
I hate having arthritis in my thumbs. I dropped the dam cam bearing at least three times. The last time I had a hell of a time finding it. I would have sworn that it hit my leg and rolled on the floor.
Looked all over, even pulled my tool boxes away from the wall. I still couldn't find it amongst the dirt, dust and dead bugs. Luckily I mistakemistakenly ordered a spare, but that won't be here until Monday.
Figured that I'd take a break until Monday and started cleaning up the tools. Wouldn't you know it, there sits the bearing right in plan sight on my work bench. Still decided to take a break until Sunday.

I know that feel. I got dyspraxia, which is a coordination disorder I was born with, and then I also have Fibromyalgia which causes coordination issues as well.
I drop **** ALL THE TIME. Sucks.
from my research, I wouldn't waste money on SE oil pump, or S&S oil pump. The $800 is a lot, and unneccesary. I called Cycle-Rama here locally, they said they used the upgraded Harley pump in all custom build now. ($150) they are one of the top builders in the world, take a lesson
