When I had my after market exhaust installed I wanted to maintain my warranty and had HD flash the bike with a Centurion tune.
(In the UK, our HD dealerships dont have dynos to tune properly)
The bike runs absolutely great, no issue there.
When its 10 c / 50 f or under, outside temp..
On initial start up the bike chugs and spits a plume of what I can only imagine is petrol out the ventilator. (Smells like petrol anyway).
To get it to start, I have to give it a bit of throttle for it to fire into life. Theres no further issue starting then, until the next cold start.
This does not happen when the outside temperature is 10 C +. Starts perfectly every-time.
The bike wasnt doing this prior to the tune and when speaking to my local dealership, they have not come across this problem before and dont know what it could be.
Any suggestions?
Im thinking of calling Techno Research tomorrow to see if they have any clue whats going on here
Well, given that the American EPA has no jurisdiction in the UK, I don't really get the warranty bit, you could have left the standard tune on it and fitted slip ons, job jobbed.
But I would take it back to the dealer that flashed it and tell them to sort it out, or better still, put the standard tune back on it. It shouldn't need any throttle for a cold start as I'm sure you know.
There is a table called warm up enrichment- they can edit using your Direct Link key ( same key they used to tune with)
editing it, both at & below the temp you're having issues with, should sort it out.

Thank you for that. Now that I have a bit more understanding of what Im talking about regarding this, I can tackle them again!

I didnt want to use a local tuner at the time as the bike was brand new and would have voided my warranty. Nothing to do with being EPA compliant.
I figured along with adding my air intake it would have been running lean. As we have all by now seen the DK Customs video on this, yes I could have probably just left the standard map be and cracked on.
Its due a service very shortly so will be back at the dealership getting this resolved
It's a bit of a ride for you, but worth it to have Boz tune it properly. You already have a TechnoResearch licence, so all you will need to pay for is the dyno time.

Professionals are often worth the money.
Thank you for the details on that. Will give them a call! Their website looks great 👍🏼
