Default Bcm caput

So only 2000 miles on my '22 heritage and the BCM **** the bed. Glad for the warranty. My dealer indicated that while not common at all, happens more than one would expect, but never with only 2k on the clock. At least hd has them currently in stock.

A friends Sportsters ECM went out under warranty. I can't help but believe Covid is responsible for a lot the poor quality issues cropping up now. Chip shortages encouraging the makers to push volume over quality. Add in employee absence, replacement workers, works not feeling well and preoccupied with worrying about getting sick.

Not the Wuhan...but people do use it as an excuse to just suck period. Still do and it's been two FN years... enough already for me.

My bike's BCM died at 3970 miles.
It is a super rare occurance, until your post, basically I'd never heard of another doing that.
Absolutely sucked *** for me because I had bought the bike used, brand new battery, only got to ride for 4 minutes before rain forced me home, and... dead bike.
I didnt get my bike back till the 17th of october after buying it the 15th, riding it once after it was delivered to me.

Interesting. what were the symptoms?

My new Low Rider S had to go back to the dealer at 1K miles yesterday. It wouldn't wake up properly - the fuel pump primes and the headlight and taillight goes on, but no lights on the dash, no starter, nothing. I have changed the fob battery just in case, but it doesn't even ask for a fob. Pulled the main fuse and waited an hour. Same issue...

My bike suddenly turned off for no reason when I went to start it after a ride. tried to turn it on twice, and then suddenly the starter kept clicking engage, and kept trying to turn the bike over even though all the buttons were off.
I turned out that the BCM had fried internally, sticking the starter circuit open.

Thanks. Turns out, my issue was the 5A battery fuse had blown. That feeds the instruments, etc...

Why it blew is still a mystery though...

When mine did that, it was because of a faulty connector that shorted out. Better find what popped it before you end up stranded.

:-) I have just stuck some 5A fuses in my bags with my tools. But I rode another 100 miles this evening and it has been fine.

It'll be in at the dealership for service in a week or so (although it's currently at nearly 1100 miles) and if it has popped again between now and then, they can diagnose it!

For me my running lights wouldn't turn on but everything else worked. I just got my handlebars changed so hd thought they pinched a wire but they tested the BCM and found it was faulty.
