The two biggest issues with doing the auxiliary loom were :-
Removing the battery cover
Getting the screw back onto the +VE battery terminal
Fed the ignition live power feed up the frame spin to the grip connectors using the spare heating grip power extension cable that came with the grips. Chopped the spade connectors off and soldered/heatshrunk to the loose ends of the aux cable provided for just that function. Also now have two spare power connectors under the seat for later mods with +/Ign +/0v

Interesting. So the loom you had went from the battery rather than the USB caddy?
My heated grips should be here this week (Chester HD sale - 20% off everything), so I may have time to install them at the weekend. I ordered the 69201750 harness kit though, so will be connecting that via the USB caddy.

They do a splitter P/N 69200921 so you can power two things from the 69201750 harness.
It's about Ł12. I have a zumo 590 still got to do the heated grips. I have a sport glide and have had two occasions when starting the zumo starts while the bike gets ready to start then when you push the start button it takes all the battery to start it causes the zumo to totally reset.

Yes, it saves you having to dismember the USB caddy plus gives you a bunch of additional accessory ports. It's another option but cost for this loom was around Ł35
