Default Screaming Eagle Welds

So I'm running Rinehart slip on mufflers and a cobra No Cat head pipe on my 2010 FLHX twin cam and it sounds and runs great.. So I bought the Rineharts for my 2018 M8 Slim and my 2020 M8 Deluxe.but decided the 107 sounds completely different than the twin cam and the Rineharts are way too drowny loud. Ok, maybe Im just getting old, but on long rides which I do more often, and the the high pulling RPMs to get up Vermont mountain passes has my ears ringing. So I broke down and bought a set of Screaming Eagle mufflers to replace the Rineharts on the Deluxe just to see....The Screaming Eagles actually gave me some low end torque back which I attribute to the back pressure from the CATS? They also sound perfect on this bike for long touring rides. That said Im really pissed that Harley decided to place some ugly *** weld right before the head pipe...Almost forcing you to have to plut the OEM muffler heat shield back on to cover the ugly weld? Thoughts on those who are also running the Screaming Eagle Mufflers on a softail? All I can say is BASTARDS!!! Lol

Screaming Eagle weld

being a welder, i like see them...but being chrome takes away the work. as long as they dont peel or flake right there, they will disappear to you in time,

they dont look that bad. they dont jump out if you are not looking for them

I have great respect for those with the talent to make a nice weld. I also like the look of a good solid mechanical weld. I just don’t think this was the place for it on a 600.00 pair of mufflers and the chrome on and around these welds, is weak and not smooth. Almost flaky looking. Performance and sound are excellent though so that is going to trump the look of the misplaced weld. I was also curious if anyone else is running the Eagles without OEM shields? Thoughts on it?

I had the Screamin Eagle mufflers on my Deluxe. I put the "Heat Shields" on for a better look in my opinion. The 2019 parts catalog showed the "Screaming Eagle" mufflers with heat shields on.

They are just a little louder than stock. I have the SE Street Cannon Performance Slip-On on my SG and like the deep throaty sound.

On the Deluxe they are definitely louder than stock but not nearly as loud as the Rineharts. The Rineharts had my ears ringing on long higher RPM rides and despite tuning, I lost some low end torque which I got back with the Screaming Eagles and the same tune recommended for the Rineharts. The rineharts on my twin cam however, sounds and performs Great!

I don`t get your beef , H-D put the weld under the heat shields using the as designed pieces .
You are combining elements ( which is fine) but it`s a not a failure on H-D`s part

The description is not clear. I saw nothing that said heat shields required. The aftermarket slip on mufflers dont require a heat shield so my assumption was based on product description, doesn't indicate heat shields. Not as much a beef as an observation that in my minds eye. they'd look better without the shields and without the poorly chromed weld section. I dug through my parts and found the original shields so Ill be installing them.
