How do I lube the lower portion of the clutch cable

Default How do I lube the lower portion of the clutch cable

With the new fancy clutch cable, how do I lube the lower half?

I'm pretty sure those cables have a teflon liner and don't need to be lubed. I don't know what the new fancy cable is about, so maybe someone here can help out with personal experience on that.

You dont really need too. You can squirt a bit into the plastic housing down at the bottom, and it'll eventually leak down onto the cable and spread out.
I use TriFlow Lubricant for my clutch cable.

The lower half of the clutch cable gets its lubrication from the oil in the transmission. The lower end of the cable housing is connected to the transmission cover below the oil level in the transmission, so the lower end of the cable is submerged in oil.

Yep, and this is what it looks like in there.

What these guys have said. I do use Drislide on the cables on both bikes every spring, old habit see no reason to break. Does extend the life a good bit on the old ones.

That's great, thank you everyone. I did remove the clutch leaver this year, cleaned it, put a small amount of grease on the pivot points, and lubed the upper section, but I was baffled as to how to do the lower. Well explained and great photo for reference.
