Is a bitch to put on the lowrider ST. I found one on Tucker Speed on Black Friday for $279 and put it in my cart while I watched a zillion videos on it, read reviews blah blah blah. Wife had given me a $250 gift card from TS for my birthday so I snagged it up. Put it on today, learned a few new cuss words, drew blood a couple of times and generally enjoyed the challenge. Have fun if you end up doing this, patience will be your friend. Sorry no pics of the install and you really can't see it once it's installed.
Yeah installing the CheckM8 on my bike took like 2+ hours because of the limited space to move those bolts. They definitely did not intend someone to take that cover off without a lot of the bike already being disassembled.
A mini ratchet set may help a lot. I used a stubby allen and really wish I had had a mini ratchet or something like that while installing mine.
I confused about this M8 crankcase breather issue. Does my '22 117 LRS need one of these? I've not detected any oil around the intake and it doesn't use any oil.

Go for a run at 70 MPH for 30 minutes. Then pull off the intake cover and look at the butterfly inside. It will be oily. I've never seen one yet that was not if the factory oil breathers were not externally vented.
The M8 Crankcase breather is but one method to fix that issue.

Interesting. I say I haven't noticed any oil, but I meant not the signs that the OP was getting on his header pipes and jeans. Haven't looked inside the butterflies TBH.
I would like to replace the CVO heavy breather, probably with an Extreme Ventilator. My first idea was a Trask Assault clear view breather but a tuning shop in the UK warned me off them because he said while they offer very good flow and look great when they're new, they will constantly mist up with oil and look awful. Would the crankcase breather mod stop this misting?

Yes sir, either the Trask cover or an external breather system will do the trick, if you really like the Trask air cleaner, Trask also make an external breather set up for that.
