I think Ohlins rear is just under 13.5 inches but will lift your rear end although I’m not sure how much.

Why would you buy a Harley is you want race bike type performance? Especially a softail?
im in SoCal and I am extremely fortunate that my daily commute is through the canyons in the SM mountain range, literally have my choice of what ever road I want on my way to and from work. I have a r6 that I use solely for the track, doesn’t even have a tag on it, and I am working on a road king I picked up for dirt cheap to be my distance bike. The Lowrider replaced my dyna and I got it because I throw my laptop and my gym clothes in my leatherpros, and I can go as fast as I safely can through the canyons and still not throw out my back on the way there. It’s definitely the dyna bro in me but I am still young and I build it to my riding style.

I would still upgrade the suspension if I could redo it, and I don’t want to knock legend too much because it is indeed comfortable, but if I didn’t get them for dirt cheap and paid 2.2k for my setup id be pissed, hence why I made this thread to share my experience for my fellow hoonigans who might be interested in suspension.

at the end of the day, we are all on two wheels and that’s what matters most man

I have standard forks in the front so I went with DKCustoms Intiminator Valves and Progressive Springs and it's pretty ok. Bike feels quite nimble and like it glides over most things.
I think if I were to go with a monotube kit the Progressive monotube kit with FST would be the one I'd like to take a bet on. But I dont feel like I need more than the budget upgrade I put in the front forks. The only down side for the SE monoshock is I have to go with a stock location preload adjustor, so my good looking chrome full panel is gone. Back to the stock black side panels.

I decided to not go with the Legend monoshock because the preload adjustor ring is at the back of the bike under that bracket which means no real adjustment once it's on the bike unless you pull off that bracket. Sorry Legends but that was a really dumb design choice. I'd rather pay the extra cash to get the SE Ohlins monoshock and get all the extra goodies, or go with hyperpro's fully adjustable shock with the linear spring from EPM Performance.
I built a LRST with the full ohlins kit and it felt pretty ****ing dialed, I always stayed away from Harley suspension but it’s pretty much the full ohlins package with and extra SE logo. The height isn’t a true 13.5 i think but the front end is pretty awesome and you can easily get 1+/2+ kits for the kit. I reached out to multiple companies and even paid GP a visit since im close, and they all said im SOL. But Thrashin did just release their drop tree and geezer engineering makes a +2 tree as well. So I got some options at least

be sure to get shims if you do, the upper fork sleeves are tapered and the lower clamps won’t have anything to hold onto.

I worked in LA from 2008-2011 in Lomita. I visited the Rock Store frequently. Got to know those roads well. I had my 1997 Moto Guzzi 1100i out there then as my only transport. Koni shocks and new cartridges with appropriate weight springs worked well. Many of the younger guys rode much faster than I did. I let them have their fun and just tried to avoid being a road block!

Ugly Resevoir? Speak for yourself.
I think the resevoir hanging off the side of my bike's side panel looks great.
My only complaint is that I wish it was Silver or Gold instead of Black. If the mount and res were silver/gold matched, I'd love it even more sitting ontop of a gold metaflake or silver classic side panel.

Wanna trade bikes lol? Nah good for you man, that’s gonna be dialed in once your set up. Be sure to get lower lines and do your braided line upgrade while you’re at it. Drastically improves brake feel.

there is a very good and scientific reason why you have external reservoirs lol, let alone the ability to adjust the suspension on the fly without tools or taking the seat off. But if you don’t know why you have external reservoirs, then you don’t need them in the first place lol.
