Fox 13.5 and Olins nix 30 with hairy customs shims Is what I am going with.
Well, you just peer pressured me into buying the Hairy shims. I just re-installed my fork tubes back onto my LRS, after having the Ohlins NIX 30mm cartridges installed. It was a PITA setting the shock height to service manual specs. It's going to be a lot easier just to push the fork tubes level with the caps, and shim that bitch instead. Still haven't had a chance to ride the bike with the new suspension set up (13.5" JRI monoshock in the rear, and the Ohlins in the front) due to me being busy, and the fact that I still have to adjust the belt tension. My Mark I calibrated fingers tell me that my belt is waaaaay loose after installing that 13.5" monoshock in the rear. Hopefully, I'll get that done today.
Ugly Resevoir? Speak for yourself.
I think the resevoir hanging off the side of my bike's side panel looks great.
My only complaint is that I wish it was Silver or Gold instead of Black. If the mount and res were silver/gold matched, I'd love it even more sitting ontop of a gold metaflake or silver classic side panel.
It's a personal choice thing, Bunny. Some folks don't like or need things hanging externally off of the bike to make adjustments.
Like I said in another post, I ride solo all the time. Once I set my sag and ride height, I don't need to adjust my preload again. The amount of external weight that I carry on the bike isn't enough to warrant a change in preload. As for compression/rebound adjustments, I can reach under my fender and adjust the sweep valve on my JRI monoshock with ease.

cool, mine is going to the shop tomorrow to get in line for the Olins install with the shims. On the fox 13.5 with preload set in the middle it raised the rear a1/2 higher than the Hd tall shock I was running. Sliding the tubes down to gain a 1/2 in front just sounds right to level everything. I have done a lot of research on the shims mode with no bad reviews. Hairy customs is forum member 24v. If you check out his low rider s and fat bob build you will see he definitely knows his stuff.
there is a very good and scientific reason why you have external reservoirs lol, let alone the ability to adjust the suspension on the fly without tools or taking the seat off. But if you dont know why you have external reservoirs, then you dont need them in the first place lol.
Almost all casual riders do not need remote reservoirs.

Oh yeah, when you look at my bike from the side, you can definitely see the difference in fender height. Pushing my fork tubes down to the edge of the fork caps will add 5/8" to the front. It should even up the bike pretty nice.
Exactly. That's why blanket statement that they're ugly returns a "Speak for yourself" response.
"I think they're ugly" that's a preference. "They're ugly" thats a blanket.
Savvy?
Speaking of personal preferences. I wish a lot of these fork cart kits would come with silver cap options or at least would let you buy a chrome cover cap for them. Not everyone has a blacked out bike. Black caps stick out like a sore thumb on a silver triple tree.
Does anyone know if they void warranties for taking a rattlecan to the cap? Asking for a friend.
