im looking at getting a new pipe because the current pipe I have now has too much reversion around the 2200rpm range. My bike hits a power after that and rips like hell.
I made a baffle (like the DK thunder torque) to put in the end of the pipe and the low end torque doubled, but I hate the way it sounded. It produced a fluttering sound.
I was just curious if anyone thinks these chambers from SPC would work. You can scroll through the pictures and kind of see the insides. Not sure how this would work, but if it would battle reversion it would be worth the buy for me.
SPCs Pro-Flo headers look like theyre designed to smooth out flow and reduce reversion with their chambered design. If your issue is reversion at 2200 RPM, these might help by stabilizing pulse waves before they mess with your scavenging. The internal baffling should cut down on that fluttering sound you hate, too. Worth a shot if youre after better low-end without killing the top-end pull. Just make sure theyre compatible with your bikes setup.
I would go with a new exhaust that is well designed. I like 2 into 1. That way you don't have to mess with a band aid fix that might not work.
I recommend Thrashin, SP Concepts or Bassani. You could call these folks up and get their inputs. I have run them all with great results.
im definitely going with 2-1, thats what I have right now. The reversion is so bad if I hold my hand over my exhaust tip at idle itll actually suck my hand into the pipe. It sucks because this is a very high end pipe and well made, it just doesnt work with my bike.
I called SP to ask about these chambers and he didnt really have an answer for me other than they made them to look cool he couldnt answer me to tell me if they worked or even how they worked. Ive seen a cut away of feuling/thrashins AR chamber and I can see how they work. The SP just looks like a mini muffler to me.
the SP is definitely the best looking and sounding pipe on the table. The other pipe I have on the table is the jackpot riot. Thats a very well engineered pipe. I just like the look and sound of the SP better, thats why I wanted to know if anybody had some insight on those chambers

Have you had the bike properly tuned? Curious if you have a dyno chart to see what happens to the curve in that RPM range. You could then compare that to various other dyno charts with your same cam/intake setup. Plenty of people running the 22-xe to compare to.
i bought the SP concepts with the pro flo headers so i will let everyone know how it works out. They also informed me through emails that the big bore exhaust has a reversion chamber built into it so that should help big time.
What exhaust do you have on the bike now? I just went through this with a set of Vance & Hines Short Shots after installing DK Thunder Torque Inserts in them; I couldn't stand the sound and was considering new pipes. I decided to take the chance and install the Super Q Quiet Baffles that Vance & Hines makes, and it's EXACTLY what I wanted. I got all my low-end torque back, and the annoying flutter the TTIs produced is gone, replaced by an awesome deep rumble. Bike now sounds just how I want it to.
