BREMBO CALIPER .484
The range of Brembo .484 calipers is aimed at both the Custom bikes and the Cafč Racer worlds. The name .484 derives from the unitary displacement of the single caliper pistons, measured in cubic inches, typical of the VTwin market. For the Custom bikes, the axial mounting and fixing centres (69.1mm) of the .484 CUSTOM make it compatible with the majority of custom forks offered on the market, with no need for any modifications to the machine. In addition, the caliper can be paired with 11.5 (292 mm) OE discs. The kit can be purchased in both left and right hand versions, to suit the particular model of motorcycle.
This new caliper is made of Racing aluminium and machined using precision CNC equipment. It is fashioned entirely from billet, and the body given a charcoal grey black anodized finish. The visual package is completed by the Brembo logo, machined in relief and available in two finishes all black (logonero), or bright aluminium (logopuro).
For the most widely spread Japanese super sport bikes and Cafč Racers the new caliper in the Brembo .484 range aims to meet the needs of diehard enthusiasts who favour the standard centre distance 108 mm and are looking to improve the performance of their brake systems, with the feel and image of a Café Racer firmly in mind.
The .484 Custom,is made of Racing aluminium and machined entirely from billet stock on CNC equipment, using the latest CAM technologies.
The caliper is supplied with sintered brake pads already fitted, accompanied by full instructions and a pair of Brembo stickers, and is compatible with the majority of brake master cylinders currently in circulation.
The calipers are indicated for Harley Davidson motorcycles .
I put a 4 piston 4 pad Brembo caliper on my 2003 fat boy thinking I would get unbelievable stopping power.
Not such noticeable increase in stopping. The lever feel was very abrupt, master cylinder piston too big. Which made me switch to a Sportster caliper with a smaller piston, this gave me the lever feel back.
Better but still not great. I then I installed a 12.6 inch rotor.
So now I'm running a Brembo 4 piston 4 pad caliper on a 12.6 inch rotor with a 1/2" master cylinder I have great lever feel and awesome stopping power.
But to do all this with ABS brakes, that makes me a little nervous. But it was great fun and it worked.
Big brake rotor kit 13inch rotors from basically whoever, but Galfer are rotors use.
Galfer HH Pads, the standard HH Pads for the stock OE Caliper are 50$ a pair, Ceramic coated 70$ a pair.
then Flush your ABS/Brakelines completely with RBF600 Fluid.
HDs brakes aren't as bad as people think. It's the fluid and pads. Upgrade the pads and fluid, increase rotor diameter and you will have some pretty strong brakes.
Besides, You want to increase your rotor size and flush your fluid before you decide on new caliper stuff anyways.
Do the basics first, then see if you need a new caliper setup.
Pretty much unless you're at the track, you're not really going to be able to outride those stock brakes with big rotors unless you're absolutely trying to be street rossi, with a single rotor upfront. FLHC has 2.
RBF 600 Factory Line DOT4 Fluid, Galfer HH Pads FD219G1370, 13in Rotors.
tunderbike rotor 340mm original nissin caliper thunderbike rotor 340 mm rick's motorcycle bracket and brembo ( from suzuki gsxr ) ebc pads (no need change brake line )
whith same 4x32mm calipers ,the strenght , the stiffness and the power of brembo caliper is enormously better ( on low rider 107 )
