Default VINERR?

Sitting at a light today I glanced down and saw "VINERR" displayed very briefly in the display where the RPMs are displayed.

Lasted a couple seconds and went away

Bike was running normally. No other trouble lights came on.

Got home and went into diag mode and SPDO showed the code P063000.

No other errors or problems.

What could cause this?

Everything in your bike's electronics is tied to your VIN number. It sounds like something in your bikes electronic brain read (or misread) your VIN number and briefly reported a VIN Error.

"Normally" VINERR is displayed if a speedo that is married to another bike is installed. All I can think of is there was a loss of communication between the speedo and ECM.

Check for any codes, there might be a U code stored.

Have you got hat DTC correct, there is no P06300, however one relating to Vin Error is P0630 with the ECM
Basically all the main modules Speedo, BCM, ECM communicate with each other and look for the linked modules Vins, serial number etc. if it doesn't get the correct number or at all, it will cause an Error Code.
As said normally VIN Error is associated with the ECM.
As it did not repeat I would suggest check the connectors and wiring for a slightly loose fit, not fully in or damage at the ECM, it may have just been a one off and you just happened to see it!

Damn, I sure hope you have better luck with this than I did. Mine did that and then some. Ended up having to replace the main wiring harness from the ECM forward. They traced my issue back to a portion of the harness that splits single wires off to multiple wires. HD uses a press that essentially smashed all the wires together that need distributed. They then cover the "spliced" area with an epoxy and seal it up. No solder, no connector. Hopefully you are still under warranty if harness replacement is needed. I wasn't on my '23 LRST.

I have a video of what it was doing.

Edit to add: Just saw your other post about adding new bars. Did this start before or after the bar install? Might need to go check all your connections and wires.

Yup. I had the tank and speedo/instrument panel off. Didn't have a chance today but after work tomorrow I'm gonna pull it off again and check and snug up the connections and see if the error stays gone
Speedo connection seems a much more likely suspect than the wiring for the bars

Not so far.

I actually havent seen the VINERR displayed again since that one time, but it was so quick before it may well have happened again and I just didnt see it.
I did see the SPDO trouble code again though, and cleared it again. This issue does not seem to merit any kind of indicator light on the speedometer display.
I only know it happen3ed again because I went into DIAG mode to see, and it was there again.

Its important to note that the bike runs perfectly normally, and by normal I mean its amazing the torque and power and sound. Its got it all
so whatever is causing this is extremely transient and isnt affecting the performance. Starts right up everytime and runs great.

so my first move was to unbolt the speedometer and reseat the connector under there. That was not the issue apparently

My next move will be to lift the gas tank up and reseat the connector on the bottom of the tank. Hopefully thats the one.
These two are really the only ones I messed with that seem like they could cause this...

Will be doing some work on it this weekend and will be trying this next one...

Looks to me like a poor connection somewhere from when you were messing around in there.

Been there, done that.

Hoping so. Tried the easy one (speedo) first. No joy. Gonna try the one under the tank next. Those seem the only 2 that I touched that might cause this issue.
The rest were hand controls. signal lights, etc, and dont seem likely culprits, especially since they all work perfectly...
