Default Sport Glide exhaust question

I have a 2021 Sport Glide with stock exhaust. I have a slip on I want to put on but cannot get the old pipe off the header. Is there a trick as I have used every word I know and maybe a couple I made up without success.

Thanks -- Bobby

This is also my 1st HD.

A heat gun usually works. Or an impact wrench.

I have also taken off any clamp hold securing the slip on to the header and sprayed in some Penetrating oil (I use CRC in Australia) and let it soak over night. Towel wrapped around the slip on the next day and it usually twists off no worries. Once off give it a wipe over to clean up any residual.

I had the clamp loose but the pipe did not even wiggle a little at the header.
I will try the heat gun and see what happens.

Thanks - Bobby

Try a strap wrench, or maybe a long punch in the mount hole anything to leverage and twist it.

I've had mine off a few times and never had an issue but i'm going to assume that the factory "gasket" might be stuck preventing it from moving.

I suggest using some penetration oil and let it soak overnight like imoo6170 suggested. Also, remove the factory heat shield and then using a rubber mallet, gently drive it towards the rear of the bike.

You may want to try and rotate the slip on back and forth while pulling/hammering towards the rear also.

If that doesn't work then try some heat to get things loosened up like others suggested also.

lastly, when you finally get it off, make sure that you use a new exhaust gasket and do not reuse the old one (if the new slip on requires it)
