I am trying to understand using the AI Box. You can get this on Amazon for $150. Harley Navigation is $400. With the AI Box can you run your hand controls? Can you move through the screen effortlessly? Looks like Android Auto would take up the whole right side of the screen where Harley only takes up the middle of your screen? Pros and Cons from existing users would be appreciated. I just want to use Navigation once in a while when I would need it at new places. Otherwise I just use Pandora through the existing Infotainment System. Thank you
Did they raise the price ? I’ve paid $349 for my ‘24. Embedded navigation can also take majorly of the screen if you switch to touring layout. If AA adapter similar to CarPlay then yes you can use hand controls but I think InTheFrictionZone YouTuber mentioned that there were some nuances, like if you open an app the only way to get back is through touch screen, I suggest you check his video, very detailed.
I have both. The camecho box can be annoying at times waiting on everything to connect, or they don't connect. The HD nav is pretty good, but no cops show up on the map. I got a rokform case and handlebar mount as a backup if I need/want waze and don't feel like waiting on the camecho. Sucks paying extra for the nav from HD, but nice to have as a backup if you ever wind up somewhere with no cell service.
I do not have the HD Nav, I use an AI Box and Android Auto. Yes, with the new update, the R/H handle bar controls allow zoom, etc. Although it will crash once in a while, it boots quickly and operates well. If it does crash, it re-boots and picks up right where it left off, maps and music resume within a few seconds. I am very happy with it and do not intend to purchase the embedded maps.
After much consideration I am going to pay the extra money to get the embedded Navigation. It's a $150 more and I like the layout on the screen better.
I just did the HD embedded nav on my last service too. After buying a HD branded senna helmet and finding out the headset is useless with the skyline. The embedded nav is just easier to use and I dont want to have to have a headset to have navigation.
I bought the embedded nav and I like it. It is always there, and you don't need a headset or be concerned about which order you power things up. It looks good on the IFCU screen and works well with Harley Ride Planner. It was a bit of a kludge before the last update but now that the zoom feature is working all is well. That said, I do wish Android Auto was native to the system.

If you only use nav once an while with the wide screen in AA, you can always get out of the AA screen, and go back to the regular screen while riding. It isn't mandatory to run it.
