So I installed the V&H Big Shots with the V&H Quiet Baffles on my wide glide but I would still like them a little bit quieter (not much; maybe 3-7 db's).
Anyone ever installed anything on top of the "quiet" baffles to soften the sound even more without re-mapping or side effects of decell popping?? I would hate to think I bought those quiet baffles for nothing.
Check out www.smartpartz.com and Hard Kore Quiet Baffles. I used them with my V&H HS Slip-ons, and they worked just fine. (I had them welded to the baffles instead of just bolting on which, I think, seemed a little flimsy)
I started a thread over on another forum when I was in search of aftermarket pipes that wouldn't rattle the neighbor's windows and my brain. I'm now running the V&H Quiet Baffles rewrapped with 10oz Fiberglass cloth + the Hard Kore baffles.
I also posted up a video with some audio: http://www.Harley-Davidsonforums.com...81-post18.html. Note, the audio sounds the most accurate when listened to with a set of headphones and with your hands cupped-over ear pieces so that the bass is accurately reproduced.
The bike ran fine with the exhaust & baffles and didn't need a tuner until I added the intake.
Bike has a nice and very distinctive "muscle car" sound to the exhaust. It's still relatively loud and sounds like a Harley, but without the annoying "edge" that stock V&H pipes can have with the cheese grater baffles and, to a certain extent, even the Quiet Baffles. It's very easy to live with and doesn't leave me with ringing ears the way the stock V&H pipes did after a couple hours in the saddle when they were first installed.

What do the V&H Quiet baffles look like? The stock baffle on my Big Shots are a spiral baffle with no restriction in the middle of the pipe. However, my old Short Shots had a plug baffle that did have some restriction across the entire diameter of the pipe.

I did check your post out...very interesting but I did not understand what you were getting at on the thunder QQ's. Did you think that is a better option than the Hard Kore ??
