I thought I'd read some time ago that the newer variants of the SS weren't quite the same sound-wise. Maybe I've got it backwards though.

Either way, the swap will happen this evening; I need to button the bike back up to ride to drill tomorrow!
I've had both versions of the sound stream amp. The first version had two 30 amp fuses and a molex connector . . .kicked much ***. The newer version came with one 40 amp fuse just like the power acoustik. Sound wise I'd rate the PA first. The old version sound stream second and the newer soundstream with the 40 amp fuse third. When you install the PA and get it dialed in you will notice an immediate difference in sound.

It does seem crisper. And louder...should have probably dialed in the gains a bit lower than I had them when the PA was connected to the Sony (odd, the Sony had 4v preamps). The HD1BT is now LOUD at 15...I haven't gone up to Max volume yet! Then again, this is in the garage, so that doesn't help the relative volume.

And oddly enough, I reconnected the PA, and rearranged the connections on the battery (putting the amp connectors under the bike's battery leads, then on top of the bike's cables, I put the rings for the battery tender lead, Wards fans and heated gear lead) and now there is no POP when turning off the head unit or the bike... sweet!

Yes Sir. . . Gotta be careful with the gains on that amp. It's a powerful little amp and it doesn't take much to be super LOUD. If the HD1BT is loud at 15 the gains are a little high. . lol. I can only go to about 30 on my Sony before my ears bleed and the gains are set at the 12:00 o'clock position. (Straight up and down)

I can recall mine set to 2 (8) o'clock. deck got 4V pre outs. running up to 40 out of 62 (not going higher as I see my Polks almost jumping out of my fairing (Bass; got both front and rear set to AP or Full), but then it is LOUD. In garage up to 30 ish before I walk out or neighbor next block comes down to yell at me LMAO!
