New stuff is in.
Well, after numerous PMs to UltraNutz and Gannicus, I ordered and rec'd the new audio equipment upgrade for my '15 RGS.
Ended up getting the RF400X2ad amp and the Kappa 62.11i speakers. I also ordered a RF amp installation kit just because using it instead of a different (cheaper) install kit gets me an extra year warranty on the amp.
I'm no audio install specialist by any stretch of the imagination. I installed a couple under dash 8 tracks, amps, and speakers back in HS. I have installed Hogtunes stuff on a couple previous bikes. I can solder. Basic skills with a DMM. That's about it.
So, with the help of you sound junkies because I'm sure I will be asking a lot of ?s and doing a lot of head scratching, I'm gonna start working on this install. Here's hoping I don't short out the HU and/or burn down the bike AND the house.

I would be the guilty party GP. . .lol That 2 channel Rockford amp is a beast. 200 watts x 2 @ 4 ohms or 2 ohms? Sound familiar? I actually suggested the X2 and dirtracin seen that amp and liked it better although a little more pricey. Most guys stay away because of the price. I know one guy who has that amp and trust me it will compete with the Alpine all day long. So yeah . . it was me. LMAO!
dirtracin23 - When you get it all installed make sure you let us all know how it sounds. You will probably be one of the first guys on the forum to install that amp on a 15' If you have any problems with the install at all it's going to be getting the flash right. Hopefully Harley Davidson techs have it figured out by now. I know some of the guys with 14's had issues getting it to sound right. Here is fosgate's answer to the issue for the 14's Page 2 under "Reset factory EQ"

FWIW..... Both Nutz and Gannicus recommended the RF PBR300X2 amp and Kappa 62.11i for my desired application. I do not want to blow the windows out of my garage or my neighbors house, I just want to be able to better hear my radio at highway speeds. I had budgeted for the Boom amp and speaker upgrade, but after reading a LOT on this forum in the audio section, I came to the obvious conclusion that my money could be much better spent. Hence I reached out to those two for answers to my questions. They were both more than helpful and patient with my less than knowledgeable questions. I chose to go with the T400X2ad amp because it has dual cooling fans and I thought that would help heat issues, real or imagined, that I have read about on the PBR300 on this site and others. If things don't work as planned I guess I will just buy some more stuff and start over. I just pray that I don't get bit by the "bug" like those two and end up thinking I need a rolling amphitheater. LOL
gannicus.... I hope you're right, but I fear I can only dream that getting the flash right will be the only problem I encounter with this install. Just keep a watchful eye on your inbox in the near future because I'm probably fixing to blow that thing up. LOL
Nutz...... Can you elaborate on your shyness concerning my amp choice because I thought that from reading RF website the Class AD designation basically gives the best of both worlds so to speak. Please use layman's terms in your response because, remember, you are explaining this to a guy who is definitely audio comprehension "challenged".

my opinion means nothing first of all, it's just that.. an opinion. Just stating that I have no tested information from this amp. Class A designation means higher current draw which correlates into increased heat dissipation. Might work well, I dunno, just leery of it until I've had the opportunity to test if fully.
According to specs, it's a great amp, no doubt.

Class A amp , and price point are why I found it hard to imagine that anyone would recommend this......
No doubt it's probably a GREAT amp, but maybe not so much for an HD charging system, or the price point that most are after !
