Thanks guys for all the knowledge and input. I try to title threads so others will find them useful in the future too.

Kris, on a batwing..

15x15" squares, 3 thin layers

you'll notice there is ample room in front of the speaker ring adapter that bolts to the inner fairing to wrap the polyfil around and tuck it in. Once tucked in it will stay in place with the outer fairing cap assisting once it's reinstalled.

On a Roadie, you need to use zip ties to hold it in place.

who cares about what it looks like? do you ride with your fairing off? LOL

you do have options here as you pointed out. You can either wrap them, or use spray glue to adhere the layers to the outer fairing. Personally, I choose not to fight with having to remove that polyfil and glue from my outer fairing.

I picked some up for inside the fairing yesterday, for $5 it's definitely worth a try.

Question for the sake of expanding my own knowledge base...yeah, I'm as shocked as anyone, lol. I remember in HS seeing subwoofer enclosures having different types of insulation in them so I know it's been being done for years. My question is why? What's the science behind it? I'm sure those who've seen or tested themselves with o-scopes and the like will have the info on this. Thanks!

how thick are the layers? if more than 1/4" I wouldn't use more than 1 layer. too much is just as bad as not using it at all.

What I got from Wally world is 1/2" thick. So, do I just need to do 1 layer of 15"x15"? Thanks. What will I notice most of all by adding the polyfil?
