Default Speaker question

I just purchased a pair of J&M 7 1/4" front speakers for my 09 Ultra. Should I have purchased the 7 1/4" Rokker speakers instead? What is the difference?

Prez are you running an amp with these? How do they sound. Curious if you are looking for "more" ??

Did you consider Biketronics.....most folks here consider their 7.1 the best of the best.

If you would of put the name of the speakers in the subject line you would of gotten a few videos, links, and commas to answer your question..

I have the 7 1/4 Rokkers in my RG. I'm not going to say it's a bad speaker, but knowing what I know about audio now I would have went a different direction. Long story short you can get more for a lot less $$$ elsewhere. If I could go back in time would have went BT. Will sell the rokkers on fleabay at some point and use the money to put towards a BT system.

Like others, I am shocked you haven't gotten a commercial yet, but I'm sure it's coming.

I guess you live and learn. I do have a 250 watt amp coming from J&M to use with the 7 1/4" speakers. Now I am wondering if I should bite the bullet and get the 7 1/4" rockers and sell the others. I guess BT would have been better but maybe at some later date. Or maybe on another bike since mine is pushing 70,000 miles but still runs great.

I would still like to know the difference between the Rokker 7 1/4" and the regular J&M 7 1/4" speakers. Since I will need to go back into the fairing to install the 250 watt amp, that would be the time to just swap out to the Rokker J&M's. I guess I could sell the other 7 1/4" speakers and re coup some of my money.

Not sure where you ordered your parts from, but if you can send back the Amp....I would. I definetly would not toss out your current speakers simply to replace them with Rokker's of the same brand. If this was my price range I would get this:

http://www.biketronics.com/bt2180-am...eaker-package/

Bill at BT normally gives a discount for HDForum members so I'm guessing it would be slightly less.

I believe the amount of power they can each handle is the difference, and I think the rokkers have a crossover built onto the magnet. I bought the non-rokker style speakers and 250 amp myself to replace my boom speakers. I had the J&M speaker in for a week before I had to pulled them and put the boom back in. They just didn't sound as good as the booms did, and that's not a good sign. I kept the amp in and left it that way for a couple years. Just recently had one of the booms go and decided to do it right this time and go with all Biketronics. This was a few years ago so maybe the newer speakers sound better?
