Default Dr. Dre Beats Pill XL

This may be a long shot but I thought I would ask. Does any one here have a pill xl and if they do could they maybe take it for a test ride down the road on there bike and see if you could here it at say 70mph. Looking for a audio option for my bike without mounting speakers off the crash bar or handlebars. I'm looking to put a Bluetooth speaker option in a bedroll on the handlebars and conceal the speaker unit in there. Just not sure what Bluetooth speaker unit would do the trick. Any suggestion would be considered. I saw a member on here was making tool pouches that had a speaker setup in them but I remember some saying they weren't loud enough either.

From a little bit of digging there are tests claiming that the pill xl can reach 104db? I don't really know much about audio so would 104db be heard while traveling down the road?

yes in fact I am serious. I'm not a fan of the boom units hanging out on my handlebars or crashbars or anywhere for the matter. Just looking for a stealth looking audio setup that can be heard while traveling 70. The decibel level I was serious about. Does anyone know what sound levels can be heard at 70? I'm not an audio nut so flame on.

you're not alone apparently. Different products but seems you're after same results. This been asked before (regarding pill) but it wasn't followed up on. I'm just curios now So let us know how it goes.

Too funny, I just got a UE Boom and was going to recommend it although I haven't tried that application. It is crazy loud, my daughters boyfriend has one and was going to try it on his softail this spring...

I can't tell you whether or not the Pill would work in your application, but I can tell you that the best two wireless bluetooth speakers for your application are the Bose Soundlink Mini and the UE Boom. I bought the Bose last year and couldn't be happier with it. Best buy has a great display of most the current popular brands available. You can use your own phone to play with each model. The UE Boom would probably be better for this application due to it's round rubberized design and the fact it's water resistant.

I think I'm going to try out the UE boom. Price point isn't terrible and my brother in laws friend has one that I'm going to borrow and experiment with. I need to figure out a good way to mount it with out killing the sound. And also make it quick disconnect so I can take it off easily.

That's actually a very intelligent question, and one that I'm sure nobody here knows the answer to. So I'll tell you what I'm going to do, today at work I'm going to take our $15,000 Bruel & Kjar SPL meter out for a spin and document the wind noise at various speeds. This will be done without benefit of windshield as windshields of course block the wind and lower those numbers. The measurements will be taken exactly as if the noise is rushing past your ears. I will publish my findings at the end of the day right back here. Whatever those numbers turn out to be, you'll want an amplifier/speaker setup that can deliver a minimum of 6 dB higher than that, and preferably 10 dB or greater for audio clarity.
