Default 01 electra glide

Hey all,
I picked up a 2001 Electra Glide last year and it looks as if it never had a radio to begin with. I do have the audio controls on the handlebars for it, I am wondering of a radio from a 2006 road glide would plug and play with the 01? I am basically illiterate when it comes to electronics. DO I need to pull the fairing apart to see if it has the wiring? Any help is appreciated.

In 2006, the radios changed quite a bit. The size and mounting brackets are different between 2005-2006. Then the Road Glide has different brackets from the EG.

The Ohms ratings changed in 2006 also. You want to match the speakers to the radio in Ohms ratings so the speakers don't overload the radio. The exception to this is if you add an amp, then the speakers should match the amp output's Ohm ratings.

I'd pull the outer fairing and see if the wiring is there first. It should be. Once you verified that, then you can start looking for a radio that fits and matching speakers.
