Holy hell... I think jpj needs to switch to decaf, lol!
OP, I've just done what you're putting together, and you can check it out on the other side of the hall (HTT). I ended up using the Biketronics 6.5" Titan II's and their BT2180 amp. For a controller, I used the Kicker PXiBT50.2. I'll warn you now, the Kicker has given me a **** ton of grief getting it where I find acceptable. I noticed another member on here posting in the Touring sub-forum about an audio install he had done on his RK, and he used a Bluetooth controller made by Wet Sounds... I'm gonna give it a try, lol. Hopefully I'll get a chance to install it and give it a shake down by the end of this week.
Thanks for all the suggestions fellas. Yes Im on a road king. As far as budget, well Im gonna have to prolly buy a piece at a time.. Some guy was telling me to get some Focal KRC's and Im sure they are bad *** but I cant spend 700 on just speakers.. So can I do this with out a head unit? and use my phone? or is that just wishful thinking?

Yes you can. If you are setting up lowers you can do it on a budget. Amp + speaker together can ranger anywhere from 200 to 400 bucks that will be plenty loud. I've seen most folks place their ipod on their center console, or add a volume **** on their dash. I'm sure there is a better way to control skip for the iPod I'm just not too familiar with the set up....but if you wanted some spend a decent amount for great gear check out Biketronics Titan II 6.5's and Cervin Vega B2. Cheaper option for speakers would be the Kappas.
I was kinda leaning towards either the Hertz HCX 165 or the Kappas .. And id like to run everything off my galaxy 5.. Im guessing that knocks out the possibility of using a bluetooth controller like the one made by wet sounds? Ive read about alot of guys running the RF PBR300X2. At 150 bucks that sounds like a good bang for the buck..

If you are considerin gthe Hertz check out the BT's I mentioned. The PBR is a great choice if you want to keep FM reception on a radio, in this case you don't...there's better options out there. I had the PBR with Kappa's, when I switched to an RZ4 they sounded like different speakers. The Cerwin B2 is small powerhouse.
So your saying the RZ4 will push the BT titans better than the PBR? And its cheaper? Looking at BT's site it shows 2 models. The BT471 and BT472. Placing them in a set of Matazu lowers, which model would be needed? Do I need the adapters?
You would need the BT477 bare speakers for the fairing lowers you would have to check with Bill at BT about speaker grills or you could get the HD grills.
Well hell, Those are cheaper too.. Any chance they give forum discounts?
And JPJ your currently using the RZ4? How long have you been running it and do you have any regrets? to me with it being cheaper than what Ive been looking at gives me a little doubt, but Im down to save money on something if it will get the job done just as good.

+1 on calling Bill and ask him for the speaker grills and wiring extensions he should be there for another 20 minutes.
If you tell him he will see what can be done.
