winner is kenwood kdc798 should hopefully arrive by thursday or friday. I'll be using the bt 1005 for the install. Seems to be fairly straight forward for the install process.
Great choice, have fun with all the functions.
That's the HU I put in you will love it multiple color display with brightness, front & rear USB plus HD radio and XM compatible.
I got the XM module from best buy for $50.00m it just plugs in then just plug in the antenna and place it where it can see the sky.

Thanks, unit seemed fairly popular and great reviews. I'll be using a bt1005 kit to install it. Should hopefully be fairly simple. Debating if I should solder the wires , dont have a kit but could be good to learn.
Soldering is very easy just take your time and don't get to large (wattage wise) of a soldering iron or you will melt the insulation and use lead free electronic solder.
Then just get some heat shrink tubing and that's it.
You can go online on you tube they have videos of how to properly solder wires together. Easy Peasy.

There you go for the size of the wiring I would go with the pencil type soldering iron over the gun type while there pick up the helping hands Item #60501 $3.99 to hold the wires while you solder them, soldering iron Item #69060 $3.99, solder item#69378$2.99, heat shrink tubing Item #67524,or Item #67530 $3.99
The only other thing you might need is nylon cable sleeving that you can get at Mcmaster carr I use this to help protect from cuts and abrasion but i am **** about having wires cutting or fraying, but this is not necessary for most people's installs just us OCD types.

Thanks for the info, I was just going to go with soldering iron & solder, and use electric tape to wrap it up. Probably will buy the heat shrink and the helping thing that holds the wires
The heat shrink is better than electrical tape it won't unravel and you can use a lighter to shrink it if you don't have a heat gun it also looks better than tape.
well I'll have a small project this evening, going to solder my pbr300x2 wires that I cut for the speaker connection. Will practice on some left over speaker first. Might even do my actual speaker wire connections over.
The kenwood unit should arrive by thursday from what the ebay seller told me. It was shipped this afternoon and he uses 2 day shipping
