Installed Biketronics Retro radio 1005x + BT71S Speaker Package this last weekend, also with Kenwood X798 HU and PBR300x2 amp. Wow blows a way my stock HK system! These BT71S are from Biketronics "value line" that handle 75 watts RMS @ 4 ohms, sound real good with a gain setting on the amp of about 25-30%. I am still playing with settings in the X798 so I expect the system to sound better after that and installing some PolyFil around the speakers.
Installation was a breeze exept for one thing, installing the speakers was a PITA! Attaching the adapters was easy, but attching the speakers to them was not. The bottom hole that attaches to the Fairing cross brace did not come close to lining up. I had to remove the bracing and slot the holes. One side was made of Aluminum, but the other was Stainless because of a fix that was made when the Fairing braces broke. These holes are off by 1/4". I wonder how many other's have had this problem.
Also had some great help from Ultra NutZ during my install. I was working with him on my problem with no power when I switch to accessory position, but think it is a blown fuse. This system sounds great and I can't imagine how great the systems with Biketronics Pro series sound like.
Glad you like it, I look forward to the bt speakers I have and amp. I'm almost done with my set up hopefully. I'll be running the bt2180 amp to bt titan II 6.5" in the fairing. I also installed a kdc 798 hu along with bt1005x, very simple. Still waiting on the bt2180 amp to arrive, had a delay in shipping
I'd like to sell both the 6.5 titan II and kappas like new and purchase the 7.1 speakers. If I can't I'm very tempted to install the kappas in the rear saddle bag facing the wheel , like people do with 6x9. Thinking I'll run both speakers off the bt2180 amp.
