Default 2003 Road King install no fairing

I just put 16" apes on and have never been a fan of fairings anyway so I wanted to put some tunes on without destroying the look with the bars or having extraneous wires hanging off the bike.

Thank to some valuable input in these forums and from Willem at Dead Center Cycles I have found a bluetooth device which plugs right into the amp.

http://www.prospecelectronics.com/pr...roducts_id=172

Then I bought the hogtunes lids for the bags, a soundstream Picasso Nano 2.350d, and pair of pioneer 6x9's everyone on here recommended.

I am wondering if anyone has some advice on where to mount the amp, I am think inside the left kick panel(?), how to secure the amp to the frame without too much vibration, and where to run the remote turn on line for the amp (I know the fuse box is right there and I should be able to find a wire, but if there is an easy fix someone has already discovered that would be a bonus)?

thanks for the help
Chris

I use that same adapter for my bike. $70 is way too much. Crutchfield has it for $40, and Amazon has it for $34. If you haven't purchased it yet, get it from one of them. I lean towards Crutchfield, as I once bought one on Amazon that was a knockoff and did not auto-connect on power up as the real Millenia adapter does.

Not many people are able to stuff amps in the side panels like you're thinking- it's not a very water-tight area on the bike. But on a RK, you're more limited. For all the bigger the amp is, really think about stuffing it in a saddlebag if you have the non-leather hardbags. Part of the problem with the side covers as well is the lack of a smooth, even surface to mount to. The amp isn't going to sit flush in really any position.

As for the REM line for the amp, consider this possibility: power the BT adapter off of the accessory connector under the seat, with a line run additionally to the amp for a turn-on wire.
