I have a 2012 ultra I had to take the radio out and send it to iron cross audio to be fixed. Will the bike run fine without the radio hooked up or will it set off error codes in the system?
My 08 and your 12 are the same as far as audio goes (pretty sure) and I did so with no worries at all. I did zip tie up the connectors and stuff just for safety. Aside from missing the tunes and having a ugly gaping hole in the dash there was zero worries. ICA is great and very fast.

I'm not sure if this would relate to your year but on my 05 I had a little bit of rattling going on when I pulled my radio. I put a couple of aluminum braces across the fairing brackets in place of the radio and it disappeared, ran it 2 years like that.
If my current experience is typical as of late with Iron Cross, you're gonna wanna find a way to ride without your radio. I sent them my radio over 4 weeks ago for repairs. It took them 10 days from the time I had confirmation they received the radio until they called me to tell me they had looked at it and had to order a part. At that time they said it would take a week to get the part and a day or two to install the part. That was 12 days ago and I still hadn't heard from them. As of my calling them this morning, I was told I should see my radio Tuesday or Wednesday of next week as I'm 2nd in line for repair once they get the part.
I'm sure their work is good. But if my experience is at all typical, don't count on the "fast turn around" they advertise on their website.

Not typical. I've sent several radios to Iron cross for repair and had them back in less than a week after they got it.
Believe it or not, there is a guy near me that removed his radio because he liked the storage compartment from the police bike better....SMH. So no, no code issues
