have an 08 road glide with arc 125.2 amp and 2 hertz hcx 165 speakers in dash .(never been happy with it not enough volume or clarity )played i-pod and i-phone thru aux. port until that died , than went to cds…. yesterday that stopped … no sound from radio or cd but display still works ….pulled fairing seems amp has power and speakers still are connected ..looked into iron cross and was thinking about adding bluetooth …after reading this forum I'm thinking i should get a new head unit. don't need all the bells and whistles would like bluetooth and the ability to hook usb, phone , fm to it and be able to read display ….looked at the sony mex-m70bt …..can you guys lead me to a good decision and all the parts i need to hook it up ….will it improve the volume and clarity of my arc and hertz ?
Check out the sticky up top regarding the ASWC-1 Metra kit for installing an aftermarket HU. The Sony will provide you much cleaner sound allowing you to get more volume without distortion.
Having said that, you have some nice speakers man. The Arc provides great quality sound, but those speakers can handle more power than that amp can push. I'd try a new radio first, but with a bigger amp those speakers will bump.
would i be able to see the display on a road glide ? would i need a rain cover for that radio ? would that mounting kit and interface work with sony or alpine or whatever head unit ….thanks for any advice iam pretty clueless
See it, probably not. Any single din will fit it in. The gain you get from adding an aftermarket HU far out ways not being able to see it.. You don't have to get a rain cover but if it gets wet ur probably screwed. BT has them for around 20 bucks

Yeah, That Arc 125.2 is only throwing out 70 watts @ 4 ohms. Your speakers can handle at least 150 watts @ 4 ohms. Change the HU and the amp and you will notice a whole different world.
I would say probably piece of mind.. I wouldn't want to **** up my invest just because rain gets into a crack, Mines also not marine grade.. Just a regular CD player.. But to help it out a bit I added the protective film that BT includes with their install kit, I believe it 3 bucks

Yep - Piece of mind. And if you get this one it looks really nice on your motorcycle.
wow that one is expensive ….i ordered the metro kit and sony mex-m70bt based on you guys advice ….there is another thread going where the guy is having trouble with the BT splash guard fitment with his sony ….would this fit mine on a road glide ?
