i have done the pbr300x2 amp and the polk mm651 speakers and a stock HU. I just need to be louder and no clipping on the highway. I was thinking of maybe upgrading HU to alpine cde hd149bt but not sure if that will help me enough.
The HU will help, but you need a better amp. Just remember most of the Class D amps may cause some loss in FM reception. If you are ok with that, an aftermarket HU will give you some more playback options and you can stream radio stations from our phone.
The Alpine 149 is great, so is the Kenwood 998 and Sony M70BT.
If you are going to run just 2 speakers, check out the Cerwin B2.
well in the future id like to run some lid speakers also. so i am guessing i should just buy a 4 channel amp right away. i am thinking the sound stream pn4.1000d
and just to confirm that amp will have no problem fitting in my 13 fairing correct?
You wont be disappointed with the 4.1000D it hits hard!!!!!
that is good to hear! it should be here on friday, i ordered it from onlinecarstereo for 150$ shipped.
I am hoping i can make the polks a bit louder for when i am doing 80 and not distorting. i am still looking to replace the mm651s tho if anyone has anything to sell me
Those Polks sound great, and like power. No need to change them, except they are prone to tweeter stalk failure. The stalk is glued/bonded on, and they are known to fail at the joint resulting in the stalk tilting far enough to contact the speaker cone which makes them buzz. After my third set I replaced them with Infinity Kappa 62.11's. Are those Polks fairing mounted?
