Default cerwin vega B2 amp connections

hey guys... couple questions for the brains in this place..

I haven't taken it apart yet...

2010 street glide stock radio.. does it have RCA connectors as output? the cerwin vega has RCA connectors for input...

if you connect the amp directly to the battery, will the amp stay on after you turn ignition off??

thanks!

Danny

No RCA's on the stock HU. You will have to purchase a PAC SNI-15 line converter. Connect the amp to the orange and white wire on the headlight harness and or the cigarette lighter. Not sure your bike has one. The POWER and GROUND are connected to the battery. The REM to the Orange wire. The amp and the HU should turn off when you turn the ignition switch off.

Sorry don't mean to hi-jack this thread...is a converter definitely needed? I cut the RCA's and spliced directly to the wires...perhaps that's my issue on another thread I posted yesterday.

You will need to connect the power directly to the battery, along with a remote (REM) wire connected to one of the locations Gannicus mentioned. Make sure amp is grounded well too.

I would do it exactly like this with that amp. Well that's why he's Gann!

okay so from what I understand the REM connections if what will cut the power to it when I turn ignition off..

now as far as the SNI-15 converter, I guess I hook up the HU speaker wires toi it and plug in the RCA? are those popular? can I get those at any car audio specialist?

damn... I don't want to wait another week from amazon....

Thanks guys.

one last question for the guys with the large Brains in here...

I just talked to my local car audio guy, he has something like it, that converts speaker wire into RCA..

on the SNI-15 I see a 10:1 reduction on a picture on the web. I told the car audio guy and he said he wasn't sure what I was talking about...

is a signal reduction of 10:1 required ? and what if I install that other one.. will that work as well?

the guys says that it will work fine...

Thanks again.

You are correct on both counts. Speaker wires to the pac converter.

Rem wire to the orange headlight wire will turn the amp on and off with the ignition switch.

What converter does the car audio guy have? I always use the SNI-15 or the SNI-35 Both work great! But they are not the only line converter that will work. Your audio guy is probably correct.

yes the audio guy was correct... I have another type that works... except there are 2 ground wires on it and the booklet says they are optional.. are they?

how do you know which speaker wire is the positive and which is the negative.. the pos is the one with red on it?

the left speaker has grey and red and a green wire..
the right one has white and red and a green wire...

Thanks

Yes Sir!! Red is a good indication that it's the positive side. 75% of the time the larger terminal is the positive side. But not always!! I've had quite a few speakers where the smaller terminal was positive. Most speakers will be labeled +/- but that is not always the case either. Don't you just love audio!! Definitely NOT an exact science.
