I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, but thought I'd pose the question anyways.
I just got back from a week long trip in Texas. Through the week my head unit (stock) kept becoming more problematic. When I'd come out in the morning, my HU wouldn't stay on for more then a few seconds before losing all power, then coming back on. Almost like a short. Once the bike was going through the wind a while, no more issues. My fairing appears to be weather tight, but moisture is moisture.
So, would the opinion be that my HU is bad and needs to be repaired?
IMHO...the money that you'll spend fixing that hu will get you a sweet aftermarket unit. I'm just trying to save you $$$...
I thought I'd keep mine. I paid $120 to change the backlighting to blue. While deciding what amp and speakers I was going to get, I was going to send to iron cross for the pre out upgrade. Started adding it up...i was crazy. Sold the stock unit and bought my kenwood...never looked back.
Just my $.02

Yep . . Time for an upgrade. 2010 CVO. That's 5 seasons. Time for the HK unit to go! Actually you got your money's worth out of it. I've seen em go bad after two years.
