I'm strongly considering installing the Yaffe 12" apes. Earlier today, I was thinking about the install and wondered if anything will affect my stereo.
I have a Sony aftermarket stereo, the full Biketronics speaker system and the Biketronics radio control kit. I know that certain wires will have to be extended for the apes but will the wires to the Radio control kit be affected? If so, there's no way that I'll go with the apes.
Has anyone with the Biketronics Radio control kit upgraded to apes? If so, did it affect your sound?
You shouldn't have any issues, I have the same kit except a Kenwood HU. I went with 12" wild ones before I did the stereo - I could have gotten away without wire extensions, but did them anyways just to have some slop in case I needed it.
The extensions extend the wire coming from the bars to the connector, so even if you have to have them it's upstream of your radio control kit (separated by the molex connector) and won't affect it at all.
FWIW - I went with 12" because I was cheap and didn't want to change cables - I love my 12s, but next bike will have 14s.
