Installed new BT4180 and added rear speakers. Everything was working fine. All speaker outputs were working fine. Got my BT 7.1 pros to replace my old BT7.1s. Had to pull the brackets and then reinstall. Finally got it finished after some issues with stripped screws (my fault). Now when I turn on bike, battery reads no juice, warning light comes on, headunit does not power up and I cannot start the bike. I assume somehow I drained the batery, but it is a brandnew battery I got around 4 weeks ago. Its currently on a tender to recharge. I did have to unplug both of the gauge plugs to remove the screws and I forgot to disconnect the battery. I checked all of the plugs to the headunit and the guages and everything appears to be seated fine.
Any other potential issue? Could I have blown fuse? or did something else to screw things up?
Thanks Gannicus, I looked at the bike and all of the plugs appear to be connected and seated properly. I will look more closely at the individual wires tonight. I did pull the codes and got the following
ECM P1356 - pn001217-01
BCM B2271 pn69994-12a
RAD B1301 no PN
U0185 no PN
Speedo U0159 no PN
U0184 70900124
If anyone has a list of Harley codes so I can try to narrow down the issue I would appreciate it
check fuse 50 amp in l/h side pannel try disconnect neg battery cable and battery tender will not charge dead battery very well check the three plugs under radio also . hate when simple project goes wrong it will be something simple. good luck
Thanks. checked and fuse is good and disconnected neg cable for an hour and no help. Think it's a short or bad ground. Rear turn signals are flickering and license plate bulb is lit. Plasma rods out. And CD front turns work but not the ringz when turns are off and still won't start and no head unit. Think I may remove amp and revert back to stock to try to narrow down the problem.
09bagger. Not an amp problem at this point it's a bike problem.
Think I may have found the cause of the problem. Went to check inline fuse I ran with amp power wire and the wire had come loose so there was a wire from pos battery terminal floating loose in the compartment. Fixed the connection but battery is dead. Taking the battery to get tested and charged. Hopefully the battery discharging through the frame didn't fry anything. We shall see.
Well took the battery to Harley and they charged it and pronounced it good to go. Brought it home, made sure the amp line was secure and tight. Installed and fired her up. Everything works and the bike starts.
Right now the rear pod speakers are just sitting in the pods. THey will be mounted once the tour pack is back from paint. The fairing is still off. But damn she sounds great. I know it will be better when mounted and buttoned up.
Thanks for all your input. Will post video when she is officially done.
