wheelman38, I am looking at doing a little at a time when I get extra cash, do you see any issue with step one just replacing the Pods with the Alpine SPR's. I understand that they will be under utilized until I get an amp will they at least sound better than the stock rears? I haven't decided on the front or amp yet but I had to mount the wife's cup holder so I thought I would just change out the speakers
Good luck with the install. Pics and review expected!
I canceled the order for the Alpine SRP-60 speakers and am most likely going with the BT 6.5's. I found these adapters and hope they will work with the 6.5's. A lot less expensive than the $110 v-twin adapters.
I am very happy with the BT4180 amp and the 7.1's. A giant leap over the SS PN4.520D which was to be expected do to the power increase and quality.

What year and model bike?
The Alpine SRP-60's are drop in speakers. No spacers needed. This includes 2014+ model tour pak pods.
You probably won't here any difference at all adding the Alpine 4ohms speaker in the rear pods with the stock HU and no amp.
Choose the speakers you are interested in along with an amp and post the combination before you purchase. I am sure you will get good real world advise then go from there.
I have a 14, I have the Pods off and went to several Audio stores and tried everything Focal, JL, ARC and Polk non fit in the Pods and from what I saw it would take about a 1/2 inch spacer. they are all around the same depth 2.375 to 2.5 with a magnet between 3 to 3.375. The Alpine Magnet size is why it fits right in. Say for $179 why not try them. From a couple post saying Bill from Biketronics recommends them and there was another place I talked to in Florida that come highly recommended also puts them in what the hell
On another topic I was going to go with the Rockford amp PBR300X4 but a couple Audio place I talked to says the have no cooling and get hot and shutdown. Does anyone have any input on this?

I have a 14 FLHTK and the Alpine SPR 60s fit in fine without need for spacers. I would recommend them to anyone for the tourpak pods.

Ya the 300x4 is not what you want I would say look into the ss pn4.1000d takes one of two things to get it into the Rushmore fairing...either $180 for the j and m amp mount or there's another member here that was able to get it into the stock amp tray with some fabrication
