I want to do an upgrade to the stock system on my 15 Streetglide special with the 6.5" boombox. I'm not interested in spending big $$ or building an audiophile quality system - just want to be able to hear my tunes better at higher freeway speeds. I've ruled out Biketronics as I don't want to dump the stock speaker cabinets. So I'm down to one of these 2 products - Hogtunes 6.5" fairing speakers with their 200 W amp or J&M's 6.65" speakers with their 180 W performance series amp. I'm looking for help from anyone here who has experience with either of these systems. Thanks.
How about a BT 2180 amp with Arc Moto 602 in the pods? That would give you great sounding speakers powered by an amp with a lifetime warranty. I had the Hogtunes REV 2 setup in my '12 Street Glide; definitely better than stock but not much low end; if I turned up the bass settings on the HK stereo unit, the distortion came on pretty quick. I ordered the BT 2180 and 7.1 speakers for my '15 SG and will not miss the pods. You will be hard pressed to find anyone on this forum to recommend the J&M; apparently the amp is a private label ARC at double the price, and the speakers are not very high quality. Just curious as to what part of L.A. you're in, used to live there and am still a member of L.A. #1 H.O.G. out of Bartels' in Marina Del Rey.

I've had extensive experience with both and trust me. You can do a whole lot better much cheaper. Have you checked the prices on the hog tunes and JM stuff?? Not sure why you've ruled out Biketronics? The Biketronics stuff is cheaper???

Listen to these fellas...you will be able to hear it at 80....excellent advise ...
I wouldn't spend my money on either.....ever (except on hogtunes lids).
I'm partial to BT and think their stuff is light years ahead of the ones you mentioned. If you are dead set on something else, get an Arc Audio 600.4 and Arc Moto speakers.
Here are some questions that will help in finding what you are looking for.
What's you're budget?
Do you want to retain FM?
Do you just want to power the two fairing speakers, or do you plan on expanding in the future, such as lowers or lid speakers?

I'd say with the components he's wanting to install. $1200 to $1900.
not sure if this will help you or not, I'm in the process of upgrading my stock 15 Road Glide Special 6.5
I initially did the Infinity Kappa 62.11I's
This morning I ordered the Biketronics Line Leveler and a Cerwin-Vega Stealth Bomber B2 Car Amplifier - 500 W - 2 Channel - Class D
Won't be able to tell you how it is until I get everything in, but from what I can find (and what I'm told) it's a great bang for your buck setup.
