Raven, you sound like me a few years ago! I was also a former audio guy who competed then got away from it. Listen to Haze and Gan these dudes have had everything on their bikes and I do mean everything...lol! Don't lump J&M and Biketronics together 2 different animals. BT's amps are some of the cleanest and loudest amps on the market (ck thier specs) HAT's (Hybrid Audio Technology) speakers have won more awards in car audio than the other brands combined, plus their water proof and life time warranty! Hang around this forum for a while and you will get good info. Check out the pro's on steroid thread, Gan is testing Hertz Mille's with the B2 and a SS 1000D! Good luck and I'm gonna guess you can't keep on old audiophile from getting the bug again...lol ...oops my Bt love is showing again I better be careful or somebody will write another book about it! LMAO
Thanks for the insight on Biketronics. As you know, coming from the car audio world, if a company has an "all in one package" type set up, it is usually crap. I have always pieced together my systems. Usually a company that has amazing subwoofers, has crappy components. Or if they make a great amp, suck at subs. So on and so forth... So i figured my best bet was to piece it all together. But if you guys really think highly of BT, I will give them a closer look, but they are damn expensive. Also, you mentioned Cerwin Vega and SoundStream, back in my day (early 2000's lol) they were both CRAP unless you got their top of the line, power house stuff. So of course I am a little leery about those brands. But i just did a little research and it seems everyone pretty much loves the B2 and B52 so i could see myself picking up one of those and looking at the BT7P1 or titans II ( I dont think i can spring for the pros)
Also, i looked the kappas up and they look a lot more robust then the kappas of old. But I'm reading that there is little on the bass side of things when it comes to those speakers.
What do you guys think? any more suggestions? Thanks again for all of the advice so far!!!

I know, I know, I know... I really should change out the HU but i really think aftermarket HU's look like crap on a touring bike. And my bike does get rained on from time to time and i dont want to have to worry about the HU getting wet outside.
Also, i have a bit of an illness when it comes to performance HU's and I would end up getting a vintage Alpine or Eclipse (copper chassis of course lol) just because i LOVE them haha.

You are not going to be happy with none of this. I say, take a step back...do some reading and searching and think how much audio do I really want to stick on this bike. Two 6.5's I don't care what they are or how you power them or what old school HU you use is not going to give you "bass" much less once you hit the road and are cruising 80mph on the highway. Using the Stock HU, you can forget about that....way too much distorted signal from that HU. So if you want "bass" you're really only going to get that from your bags and that's while parked -- think front and rear stage. If you grab a B2 and some BT 7P1's, are you the type of guy who 2 months from now would say "damn I should've gotten a 4 channel so I could put some 6X9's inside my bags, hell there's plenty of space".
I'm that guy, and likely you could be too. So my recommendation is forget about 1/2 of your car audio experience because it doesn't carry over to the bike world unfortunately....different beast here, and think what your long term goal is and then get cracking on that. You can have a pretty sweet system and not break the bank either. This link below is 8 speakers wired in parallel off one amp in the fairing, total cost of all audio gear was around 550.00 (not including lids, and lowers hardware). Is it a SQ system, no way...but easy to hear on the hwy and sounds good in the parking lot pimping. So it can be done.....even a simple system (thread title) can pretty pretty sweet.
Just looked at your link and it seems that they are now sold out. I guess i missed that train on that one lol. The price did seem really good compared to their MSRP
Bummer. This is the next best price on the Moto 602's and they are out of stock.

got the 602's last night and this morning a TM400X4ad... god help me this audio is like crack! I can't help myself.

Thank you for the insight. To answer your question, one thing I can say for sure is, I will ONLY be running 2 speakers in the fairing. That's it, that's all. So I want the best 2 speaker, 1 amp set up I can put together to hear the tunes at 80 mph really. Also, I want this to be the first and last speaker setup on this bike because I will be upgrading to a CVO road glide in 2 years.
' Yeah Raven I've got an Eclipse in the van, never liked the Kappa's back in the day (the top of the line ones with the green cones) ended up in the wifes car lol You can get some good mid bass from say the BT 7.1's or the Arc 602's. If ya look at my signature I've got Focal 6.5 KPS COMPONENTS in the fairing ( $1000 list got em for about $350 open box) my point is the HAT"s hang right with them maybe a tad smoother!! In fact I might upgrade (hopefully) with a set of component HAT's maybe the Clarus or the Unity. Check out the HAT website, they have their speakers in an aquarium and run water on them! Their life time warranty is not just lip service either, I dropped a 6.5 Titan II and damaged the tweeter,(usually not covered under warranty from most co.. abuse) they told me they would replace it for $30 if I paid shipping. Instead they priority mailed me a brand new speaker at no charge saying the voice coil seemed a little crunchy, great customer service! LUV THOSE HAT's!!! BT 7.1 and the 2180 and your good, even with the stock HU!! Just my .02

If you can swing it Raven try to find the Moto's at a better price on another site. As HAZE said you don't want a class A amp on your scooter and if you want to maintain FM reception AND good quality sound it's gonna cost you brother. No way around it. Other than that you are going to be chasing your tail trying to find other alternatives. Best thing you can do is pony up and get the BT2180 amp and the Arc Moto 602 speakers.
