I have a couple of questions concerning my sound for the sound Gurus. I'm a real novice with this stuff and I' trying to figure a few things out.
On my 2014 Street Glide
I have a Diamond Micro 4 600 watt 4 channel Amp.
Front two channels, I'm running
HATS Imagine 6.5s in the fairing and 2 Focal 165 KRCs in the lowers
Rear two channels
HATS Imagine 5X7s in the saddlebag lids
Overall I think my sound is OK and pretty loud at 80 MPH. I thought it was great until hearing some other systems and wondering where the heck is my bass?
gains on the front and rear channels might be at half if that. more caused distortion at full volume.
was thinking about swapping out the 5X7's for some Kappa Infinity's
693.11 6X9s
My questions are:
1. Will wrapping the fairing and lower speakers with Poly fill give me a warmer sound?
2. should I install a separate amp for the Infinity's and run all six speakers on their own channel or should I give the Infinity's a chance using my current amp before I install an additional amp?
3. I have no front to back fade control. How can I get that back?
1. You need a second amp. Those front speakers you have can scream!!! My guess is you are running the 4 front speakers in parallel? That amp doesn't have enough to do that with coaxial speakers. I think second amp and some adjustments can get that louder. Me personally, I would only use the Diamond Amp if I were running PA style speakers.
2. Did you flash your bike, or are you running a magic box? Either way, I would have it flashed back to stock and use the BT line leveler.
3. I'd probably also put the KRC's in the fairing and the HAT's in the lowers.
I think with the right amp combo you could get some pretty good bass from your current set up. The Infinity 6X9's will surely have a lot more bass, but not the same SQ as your HAT's. Oh and polyfill won't help much here.

I agree. KRC's in the fairing and HAT's in the lowers. Problem is your amp has no *****. lol, As HAZE said that amp is good for high db PA speakers with separate tweets. BT line leveler's and a Fosgate T4004xAd with some 5x7 JL c5 570x speakers in the lids or the BT 6x9's would change your whole sound system.

Was the radio ever flashed by the dealer?
Either way you would want to have it flashed to stock, and have the rear output and fader enabled so the radio is then setup like a stock, no amp, Ultra.

Thanks! I will definitely add a second amp for the rear speakers and separate the front four speakers to their own channel on that amp vs running them in parallel off the front two channels as I have them now.
The KRCs ended up in the lowers because the initial pair I had Blew after a trip to Harley while on a Trip.. Smh... I didn't have my lowers at that time. It took 2 months to get them back. Installed the HATs during that time and had the lowers there waiting when they finally came back from focal.

Thanks Gan! That's a shame. I was told that this amp would be great for my application by a trusted audio professional. I actually heard a similar system with two sets of KRCs up front and focal 5x7s in the rear that sounded pretty awesome... I guess that might be because the RMS handling of the HATs speakers is greater than the Focals.
I will grab a BT line leveler for the reconfig and have the bike flashed back to stock. Hopefully that will get me my fader back and potentially some better sound. I'm pretty set on going 6x9s. Heard a set of R series Alpines that were amazing. I just don't trust how they will stand up to the elements vs the infinity speakers.

Yes, the radio was flashed by Harley. Will definitely get that done.
You guys are amazing! Thank you! I will get back to you once I make the changes over the coming weeks!
Brother what I would do is if you are going to get a second amp. Yes first flash it back to stock and have them flash it as an ultra so you have front and rear fader an add the BT line levelers. Next I would grab a Fosgate T400X4AD to power your front 4 speakers. Then use the Diamond Mirco4 Bridged to power your 5X7's. After I did that, then I would consider the jump to 6X9's.
