OH YEAH!!! I wish I could hear it when your done!! That's gonna be a MF'in B*tch!! Be sure to let us know what you end up with!!:icon_speak er1:
Definitely will! Admittedly still all over the place...can't settle on fairing speakers. Was dead set on the BT 7.1s, now maybe the Focal K2s, ack! The bags are dependent on what goes on with the DD CCXs this weekend. I'm going to continue to run at least a pair of 8s, but I'm not convinced I want the big 8'' speaker lids. They look great on nice shiny bikes, but mine's more 'hot-rod' and not sure if that's going to look right.
And to add another possibility, I was cleaning my parts shelf in the garage and forgot I have 2 extra sets of Rushmore bag lids...hmmm...maybe instead of the 6x9s mounted underside, I drop 2 pairs of 6.5s in the top?
Had 4 different 6x9s in there and was not feeling the luv with the ones I was using as I really was not getting the SQ and SPL that my ears seem to like. I can honestly say that the 6.5 components blow away my expectations as a balance of SQ, SPL, and Bass. Gonna hit the road test tomorrow and will advise.
Had the fire sale K2 KRs in hand and the manager intercepted me and was damn excited to get rid of his demos. Think the KRs would have been a damn good purchase too, and same price as the 6x9s that were on my short list.
Thinking an 8" slim subwoof will really bring this all together. You know damn well that this unicorn hunt is far from over!!!! Flat broke now, so it may be a little while!!!!!
I guess the tuff question is, what level of component will potentially deliver the SQ, SPL, and bass that might outweigh the 6x9 platform?
Very good discussion stuff.

T,
Your system sounds awesome I am getting HT lids and thinking now about doing what you did with the 6.5's. However, I am going to exhaust my 6x9 options first, so I have two questions if you can help me please.
1.What 6x9 did you have in your HT lids?
2. Do you know if 692's will drop straight in the HT lids with no modifications?
OH ****! LOL Maybe not!! But I do recall someone around here replacing the hog tune speakers with the Moto's but I don't remember if it took much modifications. I'll hunt for the post!

Thanx Gann, I ready to pull the trigger on the HT lids, but I do not want any unforeseen issues popping up with speaker fitment.
From my understanding they come with a built in tweeter bar for their speakers that you need to remove. 6.5's in the lids work if u have bass from inside the bags. If not go with 6X9.
What's the entire system and how are u going to wire/power everything?

Thanx in advance,

1. The HT Lids came with the HT 200 W 6x9 for 40 bucks extra. No likey. From there I have tried Kappas, Focal AC690, Kicker KSC & KS, Polk MM, AM692 etc... They all fit and in a very few cases I ground down the latch side of the speaker rim about 1/32 to 1:16 so they did not vibrate up against the lid on the outside of the speaker.
As for the transition from HT Speakers to the drop in set-up, I had to get rid of the tweeter bridge. So in order to do this u only want to eliminate the bridge part, enter the Dremmel. Whack the bridge part off and secure the surviving piece in place with silicone to get it nice and water tight and whala, a flat platform for dropping 6x9s in. Now not sure how the lids are delivered when u don't get the HY speaks with them but u do want to make certain u have something to fill that gap or u will get water in bags. U might ask HT how the address that issue as they r designed to be used w HT speaks. I'm certain there is a non redneck engineering way to have these delivered.
2. They fit mine perfect after original 30 minute mod.
Below is a pic of than damn tweeter stuffed in there.

The system is BT 4180, 7.1's in the fairing Arc Moto 602's in the TP pods. Planning on running the 692's in parallel off the 602's. It looks like the HT lids for the 2014 and up have a removable bridge.
