Default Could use advice

Hello Audio gods!!

So I'm probably going to be like the 10 millionth guy to ask the same old questions lol. I'm sorry but if you help me I will very much appreciate it!

I have a 2015 ultra limited. I've read through quite a few threads so far. Seems like BT4180 amp is good to go with and BT 7.1s. And this line leveler thing I'm not sure of.

My questions are....

1. Do I keep my nice LCD display head unit stock? Or do I have to replace that to get the good clarity with no distortion.

2. I'm planning on removing my tour pack for everything but the long trips (500+). Should I just not do the tour pack speakers? Or do I have to cause of the wiring, etc. if I could just do the front 2 in the fairing plus amp is that going to be good enough even when I add on the tour pack on those long distance rides.

3. I'm assuming that my stock speakers in my 15' Ultra Limited are 6.5, are these 7.1's going to even fit or some modifications going to have to be done.

Heads up if you haven't already noticed, I'm a moron in this stuff. So talk to me like you would explain **** to a 5 year old. I won't take offense. Some of this **** is Greek.

Thanks!!

The bad news is that the BT 7.1s are out of stock till the end of April so if ur in a hurry to get this project rolling asap you will have to branch out just a bit for speakers, which for some can be a very good thing.

1. Keep the fancy HU. It's a $2500 upgrade in the retail market / resale market so don't loose sight of that. Also, one of the sleds that just won a big audio competition was using that HU so the need to remove it to get quality sound could be a myth.

2. Put some reasonable speakers in the rear pods.

3. If u get the 7.1 package they come with brackets so all will be perfect.

If u r in a hurry here is a thought. Order the BT4180 amp kit, breakout harness and the speaker bracket. Work with one of our forum sponsors (LL) on acquiring some ARC Moto 602 for the fairing. He can also assist with some reasonable tour pack speakers that drop right in like the Alpines or the Polks. Project complete. If you decide later that you want to upgrade your sound in the tour pack you can then order the BT 7.1 and then slide the ARCs to the Tour pack for a really killer set up. U will just need a cheap spacer from LL to make the ARCs drop in the tour pack.

If u r a patient man, order the BT4180 and 7.1 package, (4180 amp, 7.1 speakers, LLs, and bracket all included) a breakout harness, and the reasonable speakers mentioned above from LL. Project complete.

Just a thought. Hope this helps.

You could do what I just did. Order the 4180.14 amp and 7.1 speaker kit that's out of stock. Have them ship the brackets that come with the 7.1(they have those in stock) with your amp now and 7.1 speakers when they can. Order their 6.5 speakers(the ones that everyone raved about before they even made the 7.1) for the rear pods(you will need an adapter kit from vtwin audio). Put the 6.5 in the fairing using the brackets that they ship now. Either just use it like that until the 7.1's ship, or order some shallow 6.5 from another speaker company to use temporary in the rear pods that don't need an adapter (I irdered Alpine spr 60's for just over $100). It not only gets you on the road with a better then stock system, it also lets you hear the difference when the 7.1's get put in, ride it like that for a while, then see the difference by putting the BT 6.5's in the rear. My BP and Alpine stuff arrives tomorrow. I'm taking the bike apart tonight, it's going to snow here tonight and tomorrow so I can take my time over the weekend.
