Infinity kappa clearance for 15-16 road glide issue
So kappas fit fine but stock grill snap hits speaker ring at 5 oclock on left and 7 oclock on right. I've searched but haven't found anyone else that solved the problem. (Tweeter has clearance) The top of the stock grills clip in but bottom sits in but doesn't full clip. I thought about dremeling a little dimple off the outer top right of the kappas.
something don't look right with those screws. I just pulled these from a friends bike a few weeks ago and they dropped right in with no issues.
They are 3/4 trim screws from auto parts. The stock are to short. The screws sit tight and so does the speaker. Here is side view of the speakers showing they sit proper. The screw isn't close to the clip.
I'm thinking that if the speaker itself is not in contact with anything you should be good to go, meaning grind a little bit off the outer plastic ring so u can get the needed clearance for those clips. Infinity is damn proud of those thick damn rings, and those look thicker than normal.
I remember grinding just about 1/16 off the edge of my 6x9 Kappas to get the to fit in my lids.
Dremmel away!!!! A bench grinder might be less risky?
So here's the deal on Rushmore Road Glides, it gets tricky with speakers. I had the Kappas and you can work them into position but it's tight and 99/100 the tabs hit.
The easiest way to fix the problem with the Kappa's or any speakers for the Rushmore RG is to just buy the Biketronics adapters. I think they are like $50 (don't forget the HDForum discount), problem solved.

This is what I been looking for. I installed the Kappas on my 15 RGS. Im curious as to how the adapters work? The pods are needed to mount the windshield so they must not replace them? Do the adapters go on top of speakers? Theres not much clearence there. As im sure your aware of. Im just trying to understand how they work and if indeed 100% it will fix it. Im really pleased with how those kappas sound with the pn4.1000. Thanks
