Default CVO lower pods/ BT Titan 2 question need help!

2016 rgs I purchased the bt 2180 amp and 2 sets of the Titan 2 speakers.. I had bill send me a set of the hat grills for the Titans but there is no way to make them fit the CVO speaker pods..

I have the new style factory color matched lowers and I bought the fairing factory speaker pods and painted those to match as well..

Bill made reference to the CVO speaker grills .. Has anyone put Titan 2's in the lowers yet? What did you do?

Thanks !

Bertk,

Those screw numbers are not correct if the speaker lowers are the boom audio ones that Harley sells. The screws fit into welnuts and are not the self tapping ones you mention. 10200105 are the correct ones. I bought the ones you recommended and they don't work. Also, if you go OE Harley you don't just need the speaker enclosure you also need the trays. Here are the instructions that go with the lower speaker pods and show all the parts needed.
http://www.harley-davidson.com/app-c...s/-J05770.PDF\

I finally got all the parts together and installed mine last night. They really fill the front sound stage.

Sorry about the wrong PN for the screws. I saw that you posted on another thread the need for the speaker enclosures. Do the speaker enclosures come with the gaskets PN: 25700311?

On the instructions you posted the captive nuts should not be needed with the self taping screws, correct?

Did you use the CVO grills PN: 76000065?

HD sure complicated a simple project and made it very expensive.

Good to see you are liking the new lower speakers.

Bertk, you are so right! How can H-D make something that should be so simple so confusing? That is obviously a rhetorical questions since they are experts at that.

Yes I used the CVO grills.

My first glitch after ordering the Vivid Black speaker boxes PN: 76000497DH and CVO speaker grills PN:76000065 was that the speakers won't fit in the glove box enclosures and you need the left and right speaker trays to replace the glove box sections PN 76000368/76000369. I got them then realized that the screws PN 10200012 don't have anything to screw into. There are open holes that the welnuts have to be installed in. The welnuts are PN 5210. Ordered them then realized that the screws PN 10200012 didn't fit into the welnuts. Argghh. Figured out that I needed black #6-32 screws. PN 10200104 Of course I couldn't find them anywhere in black except from H-D. Ordered them. I asked about the gaskets and the parts girl couldn't find any. I ended up using 3m adhesive tape wrapped around the tray edge. Worked great and held the tray in place during the install. Finally I got the system installed!

Sorry, my above link didn't seem to work. Here is another link with a schematic showing the trays, welnuts and screws.

Sorry I haven't had a chance to update!

So to anwser some of my own questions the fairing factory pods someone above listed are decent esp if you can do some prep work before you paint them.. I started with them and has a pair of pioneers with thier stock grills and they worked good.. When I went to biketronics Titans I ordered grills I should have gotten the CVO grills as referenced in other threads.. I liked the look of the boom stage 1 grills for the new 14 and up lowers so I ordered those... They didn't fit the fairing factory pod opening either..

I then got frustrated and took the pods off and went and ordered the boom speaker enclosure front in unpainted to get them quicker and then had them painted ( I already had a qt of superior blue with over half next from doing my original pods and inner fairing..

The enclosures showed up and as stated above knew right away I needed more pieces Harley really wants you to buy the boom lower fairing speaker kit.. I didn't want the boom speakers.. So as stated above I bought the trays, wellnuts, ( already had gotten the grills and screws the week before ) I used the fairing trim off the pre 15 road glides and it worked perfect and gave a snug fit ( becuAse the only way to get the foam seal is to buy the kit.. I used #14 x3/4 stainless screws to secure the trays to the enclosure fronts..

Finally got mine put back on today and 4 titan2 are deff clear and loud at 85 mph I'd like more full range audio but for now it's fine..

So the moral of the story?

Fairing factory pods for 2014- and up $100
CVO grills and screws roughly $90

Harley boom enclosure fronts $160 raw abs with my discount 279 color matched
Trays for enclosure $100
Boom speaker grills and screws $60
Rubber seal trim x2 $8

I should have just ordered the mundane CVO grills instead and I'd have been money ahead 😳 But it happens it's done and over with now so it's all good..

Bertk are you still able to use your hwy footpegs with your lowers or did you need to offset them? Or just remove the all together?
