Going thru everything in preparation for a new Sony head unit (mex70bt) install with bluetooth. Unit comes with a seperate mic but don't recall reading anywhere in the forums that it is needed. Anyone have any input ?

 

Many of the aftermarket HUs come with microphones - designed for use in cars and taking calls etc through the speakers, worthless on the bike.

 

I am going to try and make mine work...

 

It will work on the bike, it's just that you'd have to find somewhere to mount it and it won't work in the wind at all because the Mike isn't designed for it (as opposed to the ones that come with helmet systems which are highly directional and shielded). It would be okay in a parking lot and that's about it, and of course everyone else will hear the conversation through the speakers.

 

I'm thinking of putting mine inside my 3 pocket windshield pouch. It has a clip so that would be a easy spot to start
