I just installed a stereo in my Electra Glide Standard and I want to share my experience for those of you considering upgrade or new install. I did my research and after changing my mind a couple of times I finally decided on the Biketronics setup. I am not saying the competitor's product is not as good, and it is definitely cheaper, but I went with Biketronics for the plug and play installation. Install was simple. The best choice I made was to pay the extra 20 bucks for the USB hub on the head unit. I just plug in a jump drive and can use the hand controls to toggle through the songs. No need for the ipod. I went with upgraded speakers and decided to wait on the amp (budget concerns). The sound is great and I can hear the music at freeway speeds so I may not even consider the amp. All in all, I am extremely satisfied with the setup.
It was a two hour install by myself. Piece of cake. Mount the brackets to the head unit, remove the fairing, remove the dash tray and install the stereo, mount the speakers and plug everything in. The total cost was $550.00 with the upgraded speakers.
I went with the Sony GT63OUI
It is not on their web site yet but I believe it was the newer model that replaced the GT 420U
It was the first one in the line with the USB option. A 20 dollar upgrade from their standard head unit.
I went with the BT445 speakers which was a 60.00 upgrade from the standard spkrs. I am very happy with the performance. The USB option is kick ***! I have a 2 gig thumb drive now but I am going to pick up an 8 gig this weekend and load it up.
Thanks for the info, I'm thinking of settling for a Standard instead of splurging on an Ultra.
Are the Sony car stereos that they offer in their packages built to be as weatherproof as radios that are designed to be installed in motorcycles, such as the stock Harley radios? I don't know how often you get caught in the rain, but when there is a 30% or better chance of rain I will find it.
the kit comes with a adhesive sheet to cover the unit's body in case moisture some how gets inside the fairing. It also comes with a clear plastic cover that fits perfectly over the front of the head unit. You keep in in your bags and pop it on it during bad weather or while washing the bike. They make a marine grade unit also but it doesn't come with the USB option which in my opinion, a necessary feature.

2on2 what do you mean about the USB port and the thumb drive? thinking about putting a bike tronics system in my 08 electraglide and want to get something that I will be satisfied with for a long time...Been riding motorcycles for over 20 yrs and never had a radio but my bro's say I would love it.
Instead of using an ipod or other mp3 player I put my music on a thumb drive and insert it into the usb port on the front of the unit. I use the factory hand controls to toggle through the songs just like it was playing a CD only I have hundreds of songs to choose from. With the ipod you have to find a place to mount it and you cannot use the factory hand controls to select the music.
